Millet or Rye?

I am going to be doing some qt. jars as soon as my spores come in the mail, and I was wondering if I should use millet or rye. I'm pretty sure I have access to both, but I have no idea of the prices. Are there any upsides or downsides to either? Let me know what you think, or if I'm just better off with Wild Birdseed.
Thanks
~Peace

If 100 people answer your question, you'll end up with 100 different answers. That said, I happen to like rye; it's cheap, easy to work with, predictable, and always seems to work wonderfully for me.
Good luck!

I would honestly have to say that millet is better. It has smaller chunks, more gaps and is cheaper and easier to work with than rye. Most people who use millet swear by it and apparently WBS has become the medium of choice for a lot of growers.

That statement demonstrates that you havent tried millet - since millet is miles ahead of everything else I and a score of others have tried with cubies, you would agree with me.

I 100% agree with meanie ... Milo millett mixtures rule , easy to get all year round , easy to find with no fungicides added to prevent shrooms from growing in it , is cheap , can be used to feed pet birds , great potency factor , easy to break up for G2G applications , and last but definetly not least ... MUSHIES LOVE THE STUFF ! Good Luck May The Mushroom Goddess Bless All Your Endeavors !
