The questions are a bit vague. IMO the biker is 100% at fault in the initial "brake check" collision. The part where the SUV driver plows through them to get away after they stop and block him in may or may not end up being considered self defense. It's not clear from the video exactly what was going on at that point.

i live in NYC and watch these douchebag bike gangs endanger the lives of the people in my neighborhood with their antics on a daily basis. i have NO sympathy for them. NONE.

If you read the comments of this article, you'll see that most New Yorkers agree with me. These bikers are a menace. I have a friend who lives near Astoria park, which is an area of my neighborhood where they congregate. They ride their bikes in a swarm in circles around the park at night, and he says that at least once a week there's an accident as a result of their erratic and unsafe driving.

I see this as karma......

I don't know how anyone can say it's the SUV driver's fault. They break checked him, surrounded him, and started bashing his car because he beeped at them once when they were driving all around him like idiots. They deserve everything they got and the only thing that is regrettable about the situation is that more of them weren't run over. Scumbags.

They are assholes, but that doesn't mean they deserve to get run over by some retard driving a weapon.  He's lucky they didn't kill him.  It was an idiotic decision by a dumbass.  You really can't tell what happened from the cam either, but you can see that he ran whoever the hell was in the way over.

and that car didn't deserve to have that douchebag break check him in the middle of the highway. hmmm let's see a man, his wife & 5 month old baby against 200 scary men on bikes. i would have done the same thing. he was scared and acted appropriately to remove his wife & child from a frightening situation.
