Field factors?
    #1889388 - 09/06/03 08:05 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Some friends went out scoping fields last night to no success but the last one that was visited was very fruitfull this time last year. Does anyone have any ideas as to owhy a field would produce one year but not the next?

Possibly you guys didnt pick them right?Did you just pull the mushrooms right out of the dung/hay?Or did you cut the stem a little ways up the stem leaving a little of the stem in the shit/hay before pulling the shroom out?Well if you didnt do the cutting technique before you yanked the shroom out then that could have definitly ruined your whole feild!!!I know it doesnt sound like thats possible but it is,it is very true,Ive read that all over the internet and it's happened to me this year!Happy Hunting!
P.S.Maybe you should try another field..........?GoodLuck!@@!

amanitaman: there is no reason [to my knowlege] to believe that that practice had any merrit and there has never been any evidence to support it. it may be somewhat applicable when it comes to a wood lover patch, due to the single mycelial colonies wich are confined to a small area [in relativity to a field] but even so, the greater danger is trampling the ground and breaking up the compact surface taht is nessecary to retain moisture.
