Basically it's a sci-fi series aimed at stoners. IMO it's one of the best science fiction shows out there.

You pointed out some major flaws with B5 yourself, the visuals and acting are pretty subpar. Additionally the attempts at humor and sexual tension are incredibly awkward. Farscape on the other hand was funny and had a killer art department, both areas where B5 sucked.

Netflix has fucked up. I'm on season 4 of BSG and there's no volume to the dialogue. Only the music plays. :kingcrankey:
