Would anyone here recommend Battlestar Galactica

I've got a lot of time to blow next week and I've been looking for a new show to watch. I was browsing netflix and I see this show Battlestar Galactica, I've heard of it before but I don't really know much about it. I like space shows/movies but I feel like this might be one of those shows with a bunch of annoying female characters, too much drama etc....

Anyone like this show?

Any other Space shows (besides firefly) that you would recommend?

Yea its really good however i will warn you if you are easily depressed don't watch it. It is grimdark very well done but there is little humor or joy after finishing it I felt almost numb.

Farscape is a little like Firefly in that it also involves a ship of outlaws, killer show. It was shot in Australia with mostly Australian actors and the special effects were done by Jim Henson studios. Lots of the episodes are really trippy.

i didn't know it was good, i never watched the Space of Sci-fi channels much when i could understand deeper plotlines. from what i've read, daymn... this seems like a damn good show. thanks for bringing this up, i'm definitely gonna get into it. :congrats:

I'm in the later part of season 2 I think, somewhere around there. I'm really digging it, I would definitely recommend it. Let me know what you think!

Not sure about American netflix,  I would guess it probably is. It used to be on the Canadian one but it isn't right now. Stargate Atlantis is another sci fi show I'd recommend.

That's what that show is called! Stargate Atlantis, I was trying to think of what the name of that show was all day, I just remember seeing commercials for it and thinking it looked interesting. What is it about?

Don't hate, but Babylon 5 is the greatest sci-fi of all time, even accounting for the atrocious dialogue and acting.

Farscape was AWESOME! It really picks up in the second season, and the 2 movies at the end of the show were phenomenal :thumbup: I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi stuff, but Battlestar Galactica is the one show I just could not watch!!!! And the only reason I cant seem to get into it is because of that Fracking word FRACK!!!

Yeah that show is indeed awesome. A lot of the actors are shit but a couple are fucking awesome (as are the story arcs.) The costumes are pretty well done too. I'd love to see a remake with better CGI.

Basically a team teleports through an ancient portal to the lost city of Atlantis, which is on a distant planet and is basically a giant spaceship that can hide underwater. For a long while they have no way of getting back but they can go to nearby worlds, where it turns out humans are already living. There is also an alien species around (the Wraiths) that basically prey on those humans and cull them every so often. For a lot of the series they are a major enemy. IMO they are some of the best villains of any sci-fi.
