their laws give us that label of criminal. [Re: DeadHearts]
    #18492786 -

I will tell you my opinion on why alcohol is legal- it kills braincells and dulls the senses.  It dumbs down the masses and they are easier to control that way. The same reason why Fluoride was used by the Germans in the 1940s to pacify the population.  the same reason why money is used today- control.  certain drugs are allowed and some not. A portion of freedom is presented to create the illusion- that you're free and everyone is equal.  same speech since the beginning of time.

two types of people- the haves and have nots.  Anyone who steps out of line is declared a criminal and is destroyed across the media etc.  ( now im saying that within reason- obviously not murderers and so forth). IMO people who have the power to make changes that affect our society take bribes from lobbyists etc in the form of money and other incentives- no one recalls the government officials being given hotel rooms and vacations?  they take the very substances that they make illegal and make money off it but not passing legislation through.  If im a criminal then what would you call them?  oh yea politicians.

No, alcohol is legal because people simply wouldn't accept prohibition. Other drugs are illegal because people accept it.

There's is more history to it than that and it's pretty much a close relationship with conglomerates and government that made and keeps weeds illegal. So many obviously do not accept weed being illegal and the GOV is just throwing money at their cause which we all know is absolutely useless. It's all a fucking retarded shitshow. Alcohol should be legal just like weed Should be legal and in my opinion so should all drugs.

Only around 50% of the population supports weed legalization the last time I checked, and I think the support for alcohol legalization after prohibition was much higher than that.

You're absolutely right that corporations play a huge role in this though, I really oversimplified that. I do think public acceptance is a really important role though, and if enough people really cared about legalization we'd see it happen even if the corporations fought it (this is what we see in states that reform marijuana laws - people actually working towards a solution).

I also agree that all drugs should be legal. Realistically, it's a public health issue, not a law enforcement issue.

I do believe your statement to a degree.  i did state that my post was my opinion.  That should already state that its not fact and is just a theory (one that many share in).  We know for instance the effects of lsd- which was admittly created as a truth serum by the United States government, so why should what i wrote surprise you or be deemed unreasonable?  But i  digress,we are beginning to get off topic.  We all have effectively created a new society and that is what frightens the elitist movement.  So everytime you spark up etc, keep that in mind.

Freedom of speech doesn't work like that anymore, if your posts were used in court (extremely unlikely, I know, but hypothetically) they could be used to convict you of cultivation charges.

Sucks, but it's true.

Not unless they raided you with a warrant and found the 18 billion shrooms.

Valid point.

Perhaps I should've said "used to get a warrant".

They'd need a warrant at first to even be certain that a shroomery account belonged to a certain person in real life, unless the person in question is posting identifying information in which case it's their fault for doing such a thing on a public forum which is essentially no different than having a loud conversation about illegal activities in public.

While I understand where everyone's coming from, by definition committing a crime makes one a criminal. It does not make that person bad. Some laws need to broken....it's the right thing to do. I disagree with these laws as vehemently as anyone else, and I'm sure not a bad person.....but in the eyes of the law I'm a criminal, and that's something to keep in mind......for my own safety. I have absolutely no problem breaking laws that I feel are wrong, and I can do so with a clear conscience. I have a strong moral code that I follow. I don't go out & hurt people. Yet my life could be ruined by those that disapprove of my actions. Some discretion is therefore necessary. If there was a dollar for every good person that is in prison or otherwise trapped in the "justice system" throughout the world, there would be no need for taxes.

But then again:
Smoking pot and eating shrooms and truffles is kinda legal over here ^^

Even if I do stuff that's not legal (like Keta, xtc or mdma) I do not consider myself a criminal, tbh.
I know the law considers it illegal and thus I am a criminal in the eyes of the law.
But I do not feel the same way. Last time I was high on Ketamine and MDMA I had quite the interesting chat with an officer that was there to roll up the illegal rave we where attending. He must've known I wasn't sober (huge pupils, talking like a waterfall etc). Yet we ended up talking for like 20 minutes about drugs and raves, lol XD :P

Damn you dutch people, with you're reasonable laws and beautiful architecture, and tall people, and affinity for the color orange :crazy2:

I'm jealous, I wish I had dual citizenship...or just citizenship to Holland, that'd be cool too.

That aside..I don't consider myself a criminal. Especially when you look at the bigger picture and kind of realize that prohibition of drugs, especially weed, seems to be more about $$$, the amount of money the government and the privatized prison industry makes off of non-violent drug offenders is obscenely huge...and also the fact that big pharma is essentially shitting themselves over potentially losing out on so much money to a plant that can be grown and produced for dirt cheap, and often in the home of the consumer, compared to the pharmaceutical alternative(i.e. opiates).

Nah...I don't really consider myself the criminal here.

Just move here then :P

I agree with everything you said there. I mean, let's not be the dumb martyr. We're not all Nelson Mandela, or whatever.

Now, I think there is a middle way. And this goes along with my idea of stigma, and how the underdogs of society internalise oppression.

I'm not saying to smoke a joint or get loaded in the street. I'm talking about honesty of opinion and the courage to articulate a well thought out point of view.

When you see bullshit dogma in operation in the chattering classes, challenge it. I try to. Educate people. It gives others courage.

As TMcK said, it's not like rights are handed out to people, you have to fight for them.
