    #18464770 -

I need one.
Don't know what I want though.
I just want something philosophical :ancientaliens:

Well, I don't know what sort of philosophy you are into but I would recommend:
The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way: Nagarjuna's "Mulamadhyamakakarika"
translated and discussed by Jay L Garfield.
And anything by Bertrand Russell.
Or (of course  )The World as Will and Representation by Arthur Schopenhauer, but it's a bit big and is sometimes heavy going.

The Cosmological Anthropic Principle by John Barrow and Frank Tipler is a modern mindblowing tour de force of the "Design Argument" - if you can be satisfied at taking the equations at face value (I'm assuming that, like me, you are not a genius mathematician or physicist. Apologies if you are, lol!)

The Funadamental Wisdom Of The Middle Way sounds enticing.

I highly suggest 'Physics as Metaphor' by Roger S Jones. Its an older book (1882) but the explanations for "high" concepts like cardinality are accesible to someone like me who didnt have that basic math understanding. Plus, it takes the stance that "objective" is really just "agreed upon subjective" so that was interesting.

"War and Peace" ~ Tolstoy

I've recommended that one a few times, but its a very thought provoking book. Its not a short story, and you won't really get the jist of it if you stop halfway but when I think back on the hundreds of books I've read its the first one which comes to mind.

Prometheus Rising!!!....what an incredible mind blower that was when I read it in the 80s! Love Robert Anton Wilson and everything he wrote!
Of course, Illuminatus! is worth a mention too, even if it is/was only "fiction"!

I'll give you a quick, easy one - The Stranger by Albert Camus.

Read it now, because I was 18 when I first read it and in the 13 years since I have realised more and more about how genius it was.

Also read it first in my teenage years, and many times since then.

"Aujourd'hui, maman est morte. Ou peut-etre hier, je ne sais pas."

One of the strongest introductory sentence to a novel I have read to date. We call it "attaque" in french, what is the English word ?

I'm not sure, but you could mean "hook," if you're referring to an opening that engages the reader.

On my first reading I thought those sentences were stupid, childish and inane :goat:

I like The Plague more, but I think that there is more value in reading The Stranger first.
