They don't give certifications for mycologists, I am a graduate student, I do research on fungal systematics and evolution.

You should always post your finds if you have photos that make them identifiable (clear shots of the cap, gills, stipe) and eventually, if your really interested, its most useful if you were to preserve and keep your specimens...

Mushroom Observer is a great place to post ALL of your finds! There is an Asheville Mushroom Club which appears to be pretty active. Not sure how close you are to that area.

Oh lordy. I aint got a thing against anybody. Did not mean to come across like that. I was insinuating that a student would be on a different agenda than someone like myself who hunts to find peace of mind. Does that make sense? About the best way to explain that. Plus, a student may be reluctant to hunt with me. Hell, sometimes I'M reluctant to hunt with me. Speaking of hunting, I just returned from a forest hike. Hence the reason for a delayed reply to this post. A lot of times I end up in very precarious places that a sane person would not dare venture.
I'm going to read up on the MO situation. If I am going to do this, I want to do it right. Thanks for everyone's help. Gotta go prepare tonights post.
