Flowhood Question

I have a flowhood I picked up from FP awhile ago, would I use this over a SAB in all situations and circumstances? I know it would be better to do Agar work but what about inoculation with a multi spore syringe?

Don't use it for transferring cultures away from contams on agar :thumbup:

Heh, good call. Getting back into the hobby I don't have a SAB, mostly I just wanted to know if I could get away with knocking up a few jars/bags in front of the hood or do I need to build a SAB.

more than get away with it. you can pretty much do most sterile stuff in front of a flowhood except as frank said do transfers from contaminated agar as it would just blow the spores all over the place.

Inoculations are fine in front of a flohood. since your just wanting to not introduce contams to your jars and working in front of the flowhood achieves this.

If i had a flowhood id never use a SAB for anything, unless i had a contaminated petri that was worth saving (maybe some day in the future i will be working agar)
