It's definitely a good read. My AP English class covered it and we had to write an essay on the central question of the book - is ignorance bliss?

I'd like to hear other Shroomerite's ideas on the question, especially in the context of the text but in a real world context too.

I read it and couldn't get into it. It's kinda boring and takes awhile to get into it. I'm pretty bad at giving opinions but I didn't like it. Moral if the story.

I never read it in high school or at all.  I did listen to the audio tape of it years ago.  It's considered a classic and it's the best known work of one of psychedelia's greatest advocates.  So I say read it.

yeah its okay.  Its more like, good sci-fi than good writing i feel like, and the ideas in it are pretty boring now adays when we're dealing with the actual, practical questions.

I tried reading it in the 8th grade and failed horribly because of all the big words and abstract ideas.

Maybe I'll give it another chance sometime in the future now that I'll be able to understand more of the book's themes.

I went to a public school and never had to read it. I did have to read 1984. Also, I remember The Giver being a fantastic book. Although I read that in middle school.

I enjoyed reading it. It wasn't as immersive for me as 1984 was. 1984 was much more jarringly brutal and darkly oppressive. I thought Fahrenheit 451 had kind of the same dark atmosphere as 1984. I guess I'm affected more by ambiance in novels than by any specific themes. Lovecraft and Poe are orgasmic.

I went slightly off topic.

In conclusion: orgy porgy
