i hardly can tolerate cannibal corpse beyond 'eaten back to life' and 'butchered at birth' but i'm actually strongly considering going if only for napalm FUCKING death and immolation.

note: i don't know if magrudergrind and cretin are on the whole tour or just for the show yer planning on going to, but JESUS FUCK. those are two of my old favorites! haven't listened to either in some time (although i listened to the fuck out of magrudergrind back in high school, and every time i revisit them i get re-stoked on 'em) but "sixty-two trax of thrash" by magrudergrind is grade-A modern powerviolence and "freakery" by cretin is the best modern repulsion-worship i've ever heard.

if those two are on the tour too, i'll be making it for SURE.

one of magrudergrind's best early releases:

couldn't find a full upload of cretin's album but here's a song:

Between Magrudergrind, Napalm Death, and Immolation, I might be able to put up with CC.
But I don't know, that's a big maybe. The fuck is CC doing with such a solid lineup, anyway?

well, three/four of them are solid. Good enough.

what's with all the hate on CC?
I haven't followed Immolation too much on their recent stuff but I have Here in After and Failures for Gods on cd and love that shit.
@Pigasus - Magrudergrind has the east coast, Cretin's got west, and Beyond Creation's got the northwest to boston.

goddamn Wretched Spawn!!

They're fucking garbage. There are about a billion better death metal bands than Cannibal Corpse that play better music, are more fun to listen to, play a better show, or are better based on any other conceivable metric.

Fuck Cannibal Corpse, Cannibal Corpse sucks.

fair enough, although "more fun to listen to" is hardly objective.

anyways, don't wanna turn this into a this band is better than this one. I assume you've seen some of these bands before to have such rock solid opinion so I'll just leave it at that.

Napalm is gonna sick though, seems strange that they're going on early in the set

i wouldn't call them utter garbage, just among the most overrated death metal bands in the history of overrated death metal bands. eaten back to life, while not as good as most of the other classic florida death metal albums being released in the same era (think severed survival/mental funeral, slowly we rot, altars of madness, deicide's self-titled, the list goes on) its at least got merit. as does a bit of their other early material. these days, even though they've combined a greater technicality (which for my taste is actually less likely to endear me to them, i'm into the raw old school sound) and just rehashing the same bullshit they've been doing for years in an even more generic and forgettable form.

idk about FANTASTIC but man, blunted at birth and tube of the resinated certainly do get down. at any rate i'll listen to them over cannibal corpse any day of the fuggin' week.

P.S. thanx to whoever let me know the details on magrudergrind and cretin. bummed to miss magrudergrind but stoked to see cretin, especially now that the singer has had his/her/?'s sex change operation.

and most if not all members love Jesus.

kinda hard for napalm to pull the "seniority" card when they haven't had an original member in their lineup for like over two decades. i mean, the lineups that recorded their most iconic, groundbreaking, and most importantly, SICK AS FUCK records have looooooong departed. my guess would be that there's not a single member left that was in the band earlier than say, harmony corruption. which was the album where napalm went from being the pioneering grind band into being a good but rather par-for-the-course death metal band.

Too bad powerviolence is pretty dead.
I want to see Charles Bronson and Man is the Bastard.

See, I like technical sub genres and I like the raw sounds of grindcore/powerviolence/goregrind and hardcore punk as well. Somehow CC taking a more technical approach to their songwriting sounds like it would make it even more banal. Have they started doing deathcore breakdowns yet?

Yeah I actually like Dorian's vocals more. And I thought it was pretty crazy how JKBroderick played guitar in there after listening to Godflesh. Total style change in the best way possible.
