I think you can still sign up too. It's nothing intensely technical but it looks like it'd be interesting.

"Genes and the Human Condition (From Behavior to Biotechnology)"

My teacher also had some recommendations for sites with 3D animations of all the major reaction mechanisms. I can easily visualize molecular interactions on the atomic scale with incredible, AcidVisionTM but I'm sure they're helpful for those not so imbued. I'll put it up here if/when I can find it in my notes or I see it again. :vaped:

This is pretty good, I've been looking for something exactly like that. I guess the only true way to do it is to read the heavy textbook but I just like to see how the reaction happens.

Yeah. It all ultimately boils down to what type of solvent you're using (if it's polar and protic/acidic - and how acidic), what type of things you're dissolving (like dissolves like), and what kind of side reactions could occur in a given reaction.

There's a separate book for laboratory technique, BTW-- I don't know if you have the book of theory or the book of technique, they're about equally long and both are necessary if you want to get comprehensive. The theory book doesn't tell you the first thing about how to actually get anything done in a lab, the lab book tells you very little about what you're doing. :shockandawe:

I got A's in organic and only went to class 3 times per term to take the exams.

Read a book, do the practice problems at the end of the chapters.

You'll know it.

Don't need a teacher to explain shit if you can read.

Here's a "marvellous organic chemistry textbook"  reccommended by ped: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17423210#17423210
