pan cyan's not pinning
    #18135474 -

I have a tray of pan cyans that are not pinning. I cased with a premade casing from a sponsor and the pan myc has almost fully colonized the casing layer. Its been 9 days since fruiting in a proper sgfc. Do pans take longer to pin than reg. cubes? Is there anything I can try to get some pins forming or do I just have to wait a little longer? There is no contams on the tray and I have a tray of cambo's in the same sgfc that are almost done.

sub depth is about 2.5-3" casing depth is about 1/8-1/4" mist 2 or 3 times, fan probably 5 or 6 times a day

From what i read, you want to keep substrate depth to about 1.5"

But that's all i can really help with. I'm spawning some trays of pan cyans next week, its my first go with em and i cant wait to see them fruit.

yeah thats a deep sub bud, they really prefer a shallow sub and might or might not pin. all you can do is hope for the best

1.5" sub....to leave room for the .5" casing PAN CYANS

--------------------
Be sure to NOT leave lids loose on grain jars.  Any air exchanges that occur as the PC cools will allow contaminants to possibly slip around the filter disk or tyvek as opposed to passing through it. -RR

Ok I just measured it again, Its for the most part around 2", the thinnest spot is 1.5" and the thickest is about 2.5". It is a bit thinner in some spots, its not 100% level. The sub has shrunk quite a bit since I put into fruiting and like I said the casing is almost 100% colonized. Is this normal for the pans? Does my mist and fan seem right? I tryed to do plenty of research before I spawned them but Im having awesome luck with the cubes!! Huge pinsets, I harvested a little over 1.5oz in a tiny tray in the first flush.

Is casing again a good thing to do?

Does it have some thing to do with ms innoc?

the misting is fine, the like wet feet dry head meaning mist the sub till it pins then stop misting.
the casing colonizing is pretty normal 2 which is y we case it and put it into fruiting right away because of the shallow casing.don't recase it just keep an eye on it and mist when neccesary

What is your humidity at? Pans don't like humidity as high as regular cubes as well.

Im trying to keep the sgfc around 80% just for the pans. The cubes I have in there seem to be doing just fine, I have a kick ass pin set with the cubes. like I said I have a few knots on the pans but not alot, 1st indoor grow so im not really sure what Im lookin for or how long to wait for it???:facepalm3: I hope I get a few more pins from the pans so I can keep them going and keep trying to adjust my grow to suit their needs more precise??

Tmethyl could guide you in the right direction, I'm pretty sure he has cultivated them indoors, maybe try pming him? I have my master jar going so I'm looking forward to the headache!

Awesome!! I have got a few pointers from him already. Im not sure if im just being impatient because im used to the cubes pinning in like 4-5 days. Ive been searching high and low to make the best environment for them, guess we'll see in the next few days if I get more than 2 pins, man I hope so!! Ive been so excited for these, way more than the cubes, hope it works out??

What kind of bulk substrate did you prepare for them?

I used 40%h-poo, 40%straw and 20% verm with 5% gypsum. Everything else I used that mix for is doing excellent!!! I have a mini-mono ps.cambo with about 100+ pins, there is clusters of 10-12 pins, is absolutely crazy. The pans on the other hand are going a bit slower.

I wonder if the temp has any thing to do with it? They are pan. cyan. "big island Hawaii" so I imagine they like the warm!! My grow closet gets down to about 72 during the night cycle. During the day it is 78-80, maybe a bit cool for the pans. Not sure tho

I disagree. In my experience, copes seems to thrive in higher humidity, around the 95% RH range. Especially during the pinning/pre-pinning stage. It's very easy for the substrate to dry out otherwise.

And yes, first time expert, keep the temperature up and constant (75-78°).

Check out Blue Helix's stuff too. It's a bit dated, but still very true to form. His posts are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the species.

I'm doing pans now and have studied blue helixs posts, and he recommmends like 99% RH to initiate pinning. Also, I recall him having higher temps:shrug:

Maybe with pans thats not as important as humidity

I got 0 experience with pans so I would go with what the guys said, what I said was what I read so that could be correct or not.
