afoaf has inoculated a few jars and is going to be leaving for school in about a week. 3 of his jars are almost fully colonized right now, but 2 of them are newer and only at about 40-50% colonized at the moment. he DOES NOT want to be growing at school, so he is wondering about leaving them at home to fruit invitro while he's gone. he'd leave them somewhere so they'd get diffused sunlight during the day and of course be in the dark at night. his question--how early can his jars go invitro? obviously there will be more colonization in a week, but would it be OK to leave the not-fully colonized jars in these conditions while he's gone at school?
also, hippie's invitro tek recommends turning the jars upside down. he was wondering if he should place anything underneath the jars (because they have 4 holes poked in the top for inoculation)? does this take care of gas exchange?
thanks!

i dont think the jars that are only half colonized should be into fruitin conditions, the uncolonized substrate could be a nice place for contams to take hold and spread their filth.

alright, cool. thanks for the reply; i will tell him not to invitro the ones that aren't fully colonized and have a friend take care of them.
he will be cold shocking and dunking for 24 hrs the ones that are finished. about how long does invitro fruiting take?
