Standard Pint Invitro

My ear of friend, having finally tripped (and finding the experience enjoyable and enlightening), has decided to resume mushroom growth. On hand he has all necessary supplies for PF jars, except he has only standard half pints (shoulderless, but not tapered or widemouth). He's used these before and found that, while the cake slides out relatively easily, invitro fruiting leads to major problems which usually end up with a destroyed cake. He also has some standard (not wide mouth) half pints and was wondering the difficulty others would expect from invitro fruiting a half pint within this style of pint jar.
All of this got him thinking: "Why not spawn some popcorn in these pint jars?" and "If spawning popcorn, why not use myc water?". He ran to kitchen and found karo, but alas, he noticed that it had "with real vanilla" in tiny print on the bottom of the label. Checking ingredients, vanilla showed up very late in the list. Now he is anxious to know if this would throw off the water, or if he should just stop being such a cheap schmuck and buy more karo
He told me he'd be grateful for any info that could be had.

I can't give first hand advice, but someone here said that he was using karo with vanilla. No problems.

Verbum, canis.
Literally: Word, dog.
My friend is rather glad to hear this. I, however, have no idea what I meant by "ear of friend" in my first sentence.

Just as much. No matter the sized jar you use, they're cramped in there. Damaged fruits are just as good though. With practice you could remove them with least damage I'd think.
