?It is common knowledge because Republicans are traditionally stronger on the economy that Democrats are.?
What evidence do you have to back this up? So far, I?ve only seen evidence showing just the opposite is true.

?They have basic freedoms now such as freedom of speech, whereas before they could have been jailed for that.?
Edame was correct in saying ?Iraqis don't all have freedom of speech, newspapers are banned from printing certain things about the occupying powers, and raids and arrests have already happened.?

?the Republicans are stronger on national defense. Does the mean that North Korea can't use a nuclear bomb against us??
Republicans spend more on national defense. That?s not the same as being stronger. Having good diplomacy skills is worth far more than having a few extra nuclear bombs. North Korea is probably a greater threat today than they were under Clinton. It?s not because Clinton had a stronger military, but because he understood diplomacy a little better.

?I didn't say a Republican president garuntees a surge in the economy.?
You said ?The stock market surges up when a Republican gets elected, visa versa when a Democrat gets elected.? You were proven very wrong.

?We did not conquer the Iraqi people. We conquered Sadam Hussien's regime thus liberating 50 million people.?
So running their Government, controlling their press, and controlling their oil means liberation? Not worth arguing, because we?d only be arguing about the semantics of ?liberation?, not what actually happened.

?Impeach him for getting us out of the Clinton-Gore recession??
There was a Clinton recession? If there was, Bush got us out of it?? WTF???

?They don't have rights like Americans have rights but now they have more rights than they used to.?
What rights do they now have that they didn?t have before??? Seriously, if you respond to only one of my bullets, please respond to this one.

?Fox is arguably the most balanced news network in the world. It also has higher ratings than any other news network.?
This was discussed in the ?Howard Dean? thread. Fox is only balanced if you?re a conservative, just like the New York Times is only balanced if you?re a liberal. If you want to talk about ratings, the New York Times is the 2nd or 3rd most read paper in the country. Does that prove they are balanced?

Regulation does discourge development.

"if the market is unregulated everybody would just be releasing 'generic' brands of drugs that are already developed, saving millions, while making millions, off other drug companies that spend tons of time and energy researching/developing."

Have you ever heard of a patent? When a company releases a new drug they have 14 (not sure if this is the exact # of years, but it is around this area) years to sell that drug before any other company can make that drug. That debunks your whole argument.

Why do you think the USA has the best drug companies in the world? Because our market is for the most part unregulated allowing drug companies to make lots of profit when they succesfully develop a new drug. If the government intervenes in this process then drugs companies will have much less incentive to make new drugs if they won't make a profit in return.

- My evidence that Republicans are traditionally stronger for the economy is Republicans are pro-business/pro-stock market, and generally favor more tax cuts than Democrats.  Both of these factors help the economy.

- The Iraqi people don't have freedom of speech like Americans do but they no longer have to be worried about being tortured for what they say about the government.  It's a improvement.

- So building a strong army doesn't make national defense stronger?  Good diplomacy skills are crucial as well as a strong military.  When Clinton was president however the North Koreans did not announce they would begin a nuclear program.  That is not a strong argument you make because no body knows how Clinton would have reacted if the North Koreans started a nuclear program.  Maybe he could have handled it better than Bush.. we will never know.

- "?The stock market surges up when a Republican gets elected, visa versa when a Democrat gets elected.? You were proven very wrong."
How exactly was I proven wrong?  Look at what the stock market did the day that it was announced that Bush would be our president.  The Dow went up about 100 points if I remember correctly.

- I put a  after that statement it wasn't meant to be taken that seriously.  The fact is however Bush inherited a decling economy and at the present time we are no longer in recession according to Alan Greenspan.

- The Iraqi people no longer have to fear about being tortured and jailed for speaking out against the government wether the are pro-Sadam or pro-America.  However that's no to say someone couldn't put a bullet in the back of their head.

- You have a good point that ratings does not mean balanced.  With that quote from me I was responding to another post that was saying Fox is not a legitimate source of news.  "Fox is only balanced if you?re a conservative, just like the New York Times is only balanced if you?re a liberal" - good point.

- I listed 4 networks.. yet you pointed out Fox. Fox is arguably the most balanced news network in the world. It also has higher ratings than any other news network. That is because people are fed up with liberal bias in the media and want balanced views, not liberal views.

When I read this, I laughed so hard that soda came out my nose.

-The link you posted is not a credible source. Show me something from any major news network (i.e. foxnews, cnn, nbc, abc... ) that says the same thing. I could just as easily create a website that says the exact opposite of what that website says.

If you aren't satisfied with my link, then do your own research. In the meantime you can plead ignorance, but I aint buying it.

- We did not target civilian structures. Showing me show dead Iraqis does not prove that we targeted civilian structures. Do you have any evidence that shows we targeted civilian structures?

Civilians were killed in civilian areas, during the initial attack. This is well documented. Your initial statement is false: "America has not been bombing civilian structures...We have been bombing the Iraqi military and their structures, not their people."

Quote:
- I'll admit I was wrong on the population thing according to that site. How is the USA oppressing the Iraqi's? By giving them freedom of speech and assembly? The only people we could possibly be oppressing are Sadam supporting radicals and these people don't deserve the most basic human rights anyways.

Americans haven't given Iraqis their own government. Imagine China came in and took over America and gave legal marijuana. Americans would be a bit more free in their personal lives, but they would still be oppressed by the Chinese, by not having an American government.

In the end this will probably work out better for Iraq, but for now this war is still a disaster, and the Iraqis aren't truly liberated.

- I was commenting on the credibility of that website because it looks sketchy as hell.

- "Civilians were killed in civilian areas, during the initial attack." Where did I deny this? What I said was we did not intentionally target civilian buildings. What I posted before: "America has not been bombing civilian structures," .. I should have worded it better to say we did not intentionally bomb civilian structures. Obviously we bombed civilian structures but it was unitentional (with the exception of stuff like that link where we bomb a resturant in an attempt to kill Sadam... how ever this is still a viable military target even though it is a civilian building).

I agree with everything you said there.

I agree, it was obviously not an intentional target (I hope), but it did happen anyway.  "in war shit happens."
