Isn't "Drugs, Inc" one of the reason's why MHRB got so much attention and then banned?
Fuck that show, and the people in it are stupid showing how they do what they do.

Nat Geo channel is run by News Corp (ie, Fox News) so, it isn't too surprising that they have sensationalized programming.

Everyone is right... Shooting heroin, smoking crystal meth and crack are all very productive and healthy activities.
And showing the results of some people's extreme abuse of these drugs is definitely propaganda.
Cause we all know that there are no bad drugs, i mean abusing heroin and crystal meth couldn't possibly have any negative side effects.
All drugs can and do have some potentially harmful side effects, even the ones we hold so dear and near to our hearts.
To blindly and naively say all drugs are GOOD maaaan is propaganda, actually more like ignorance.

It's only considered propaganda when they choose to show only one side of the coin. Yes, abusing anything is bad.  Showing no kind of self control can be unhealthy in all aspects of life.  In this respect, Heroin and/or Methamphetamine are no different from alcohol and tobacco.  But let's not be hypocrites! NatGeo is certainly not going to make a show about the dangers of abusing Oxycodone and Adderall. Let the government tell us what drugs we can and can't take, as long as they get a cut of the profits.  Because you can't control the drug trade unless you outlaw the natural drugs and then create your own synthetic versions of these drugs to sell by prescription, right?

Now, I'm not saying all drugs are good. But no drug is inherently bad if used in a respective manner.  There then lies the problem....man's addictive personality and lack of self control.  But who really has the right to control what any individual does with them self?  Why is it not ok for me to smoke some meth, but perfectly acceptable for me to smoke cigarettes?  Perhaps because there's a federal agency that gets funded by the corporations that produce tobacco and alcohol.  :rolleyes:

Well said. I agree it is not the drugs that are inherently bad. And i agree that the government shouldnt have the right to tell what you can and cannot put into your body, especially where consciousness is concerned.
It is a good question, why do we ingest substances that we KNOW are killing us? I smoke and am a struggling opiate addict myself (been clean 5 days now though) I wish i could quit both.
I sort of believe though that the very idea of drugs being taboo is one reason we are attracted to them. If all the drugs were legal and treated neutrally, i bet there would be way less cases of addiction.
Its kind of like if you build the prisons, you have to find reasons to fill them. We have created a prison society.

OH and DrugsInc did have an episode showing the abuse of oxycontin and they had a segment about adderall as well. I dont think they are as biased as everyone is saying they are.

The show is ENTERTAINMENT. Dont expect to watch it and learn something. Or for it to even have correct information

I've seen alot of the episodes, laughed quite a few times.

Its just the way TV is right now. Flip to the history channel, the majority of the programs dont teach you things, they entertain you

While I agree, it's also a travesty. Let's have a look at how the National Geography Society profiles itself:

Of course, there is no such thing as 'unbiased journalism'; it's difficult to make a balanced view on a complex matter such as drugs. Even more so if you're catering for a public that isn't particularly scientifically inclined, so to speak (read: the dumb fucks need to get it too). Still, I think NatGeo usually does a poor job at offering a balanced view when they're 'reporting' on the more morally-laden societal issues.

It's only fair that they are being held to their own standards. They should be doing a better job at the journalism bit (their pictures, both moving and still, are often stunning, that has to be said).

I didn't know they did those shows.  Well, maybe it's not so bad, I do remember the show they did on mushrooms, and they talked about the healing powers of mushrooms with cluster headaches and how some people actually need them.  So you're right, they're not completely biased. I'm more just annoyed by the fact that the government thinks they can control everyone and decide what's good and what's bad.

The thing is, is the war on drugs is such a ridiculous failure and waste of money.  Most people try drugs for the first time because they're illegal. You're right, it's human nature to seek out the taboo. A friend was telling me once that in the Netherlands there isn't really a legal drinking age.  You can legally buy alcohol at 16, but you can drink it at any age.  The law is real lenient, basically.  The thing is...because kids can drink alcohol over there, it's not a bid deal and thus not a problem.  Kids are not seeking out alcohol like they do here in the US, because who cares? Any child can drink, it's not the "cool adult thing to do".  So they don't have as big of a problem with binge drinking and what not over there as we do in the US.  Interesting?  So, in a way, our laws are creating the problem.

The best thing we can do is to legalize ALL drugs. This gets rid of the underground black market, and crime.  Create laws that control the manufacturing of drugs, so there is clean, pure drugs and you know what you're ingesting.  Teach only scientific facts about the use of drugs and educate people with truth.  And let people decide what they want to do with their own lives. Supply addicts with help and stop putting people in prison.  Everyone knows that prison doesn't work.
