Photography Videography
    #17840503 -

I just realized that I have been running around society proclaiming that I am going to "shoot" dogs, cars, and people. But by "shoot" I actually meant film. Today I got a look. I think I need to take shoot out of my vocabulary as far as art goes.

:megusta:

Does anyone else here like to take pictures or video?

Can I see?

Let's share!

Neat. What camera do you use? I really like the one with the bridge. I like the golden color. Did you use a post production program to make it rustic like that?

I just took this one.

Canon Mark 5d Mark ii, 28mm lens f/1.4

I was using manual focus with this new lens of mine. I am finding out that the depth of field is hard to control with a 28mm lens. I missed the focus on her eyes a little bit.

I love how that pic turned out.

I use a 100$ digital camera I bought at Wal Mart two years ago.
Picked up a Photo program for 30$

:snoop: Now I use it to take pictures while I'm driving. I whip it out, put it above my steering wheel, snap the photo, and put it away, hoping no cops are driving by.
Or, on my front porch. No trick work for me. Pick up, aim, shoot.

Really? Well, you do a nice job!

Those pictures look really grainy and old fashioned. Kind of like the style of the Beatles cover where the band is walking across the street.

I like it.

I would be curious to see how you do with a nice camera!

I used to use a Walmart camera too. I loved it. I even took video with it.

I live in a similar area.

Did you ever take video? You might like that. It might get really fun when you take macro shots (close ups) of the nature around your home and create a video with ambient or really any kind of music. People do a lot of video tests with shots like that. If you go to youtube and type in 'Canon Mark ii video test', you will be able to see the kind of videos that I am talking about.

camera

You can actually get a really nice HD camera that can capture great images and 1080p HD video for a few hundred dollars. The Canon T3i is a great buy. If you want to go a little cheaper then try the Canon T2i or T1i. If you go to youtube and type Canon T3i video test you can see how it films. Or picture test for photographs.

I don't have a good video editing program, and don't have the extra cash to shell out for one. Or I would probably start taking video's too.
I actually need to upgrade my video software, but again... money. I'm going to check out those camera's now.

You should post some more shots you have.

I just got a new computer so I don't have any of my shots. I need to transfer them from my old one.

You don't need expensive software to edit video. I used Windows Movie Maker for a while and finally I just obtained Adobe After Effects and Premier.

Windows Movie Maker isn't a bad place to start. I is a basic program. A nice step to take before jumping into more professional programs.

I guess I can use iMovie.

I just went through my Camera and found some cheesy but cool filters pre-loaded. Let me upload.

This is just outside my bank.

Main Street.

(Those were taken a few days ago. I had others, but I didn't like how they looked when I uploaded um.)

And these are my crazy filters I just found...

Pop Art.

Punk.

Drawing.

 The things you find!

Hahaha. Pop art. I like that. Very creative.

Those town pictures are really nice. I like em.

Do you just carry around a camera and shoot all the time?

It looks like you are from the North East. I am too.

I can't wait till spring comes. I am going to get some really nice nature videos going. I want to get a macro lens and film various insects extremely close up.

North East, that's me. Upstate New York.

I took a good luck at the Flag photo, I REALLY love how the flag turned out. It's so crisp and sharp. Who woulda thunk a 100$ camera could do this.

But yeah, I walk around with my Camera 24/7. I take TONS of photos, but only keep a dozen or less. Sometimes I come home empty handed.

I have a huge collection of photo's I'm so pumped I got. And the few times I went without my camera and thought... "Well shit." So I just carry all the time.
Sometimes I feel like an awkward tourist though.

When you get some nice pictures you gotta post them man, and let me know if you do and put them in a different thread. I'm interested.

You too man. You seem like a cool cat.

That's cool as hell. Sound like it isn't so bad having a small and cheap camera. Lugging around the Mark ii is not convenient for something like you do.

Check this out. I didn't take any more photographs but I have been playing with the idea of making a daylight photograph seem like it's night. I got the idea when I read that people in the film industry often shoot daylight scenes and convert them to night in post production programs.

It's a bit too dark and if you look close you can see a kind of 'wash'. It looks like it was painted. It's a neat idea though.

Aha, I actually had to adjust my computer monitor to see that was your pup.

It's a cool idea, I like it, but damn...

The idea of photography is to take something simple, and make it different.

I just realized after re-reading this, that I should put all my pics on a flash, or external drive. If I got a new computer it would be a pain in the balls to transfer everything... or if mine dies... oh my...

Hey XUL... Was on the road today, and had to pee really bad. Saw a porta potty on the side of the road next to this beautiful place, so I snapped some shots.

I touched up most of them...

The Dock Ended half way, so I grabbed a picture of the bridge.

I was too afraid to go on the ice, but I got as close as I could...

I guess here, half the Dock collapsed at some point... was pretty neat.

The dock... It looked best in Black and White, with some other touch ups.

Drove down a road that looked like this for about 2 hours...

And yep... Just when I stop to take a piss... The town is right there... across the bridge.

Wow, that one yellow tinted one of the dock is amazing. How did you touch them up? Photoshop?

I haven't taken many pictures lately, but the other day I shot a short film. I am not uploading it because it was just practice, but eventually I will throw up something.

Cool work man. You are good.

What is the focal length on your lens for your camera?

It's not photoshop, but I guess it is? It's some shitty software I picked up a few years ago.
With some filters that came pre-built into my camera.

My lens is 18x.

It's funny, my aunt has this 2,000$ camera and commented on the photos (Facebook) And said.. "When did you get a new camera? This might be better than mine, tell me what you're using."

 I was like... "A 100$ digi camera from Wal-Mart."

She then replied... "Well, I was just being nice, they could use better quality."

I figure this way... If I need a closer shot, and I can... I'll get closer with my body. Hah.

That's cool.

I firmly believe that a person can do great things with cheap equipment.

I started with a Walmart camera, upgraded to a mid grade camera, and finally got a top of the line camera that can even film in full HD with excellent low light ability.

I have been working 70 hour weeks lately trying to afford my big daddy, which is going to be the main camera for my film - or the indie film I am trying to produce/direct.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/products/professional_cameras/cinema_eos_cameras/eos_c100

That's the camera. It will probably take me about 6 months to afford it. It costs 6,500 dollars.

But that is just the body!

After I pay cash for the camera I am going to lease two prime lenses that run about 5,000 dollars a piece. Isn't that ridiculous? From what I hear it is worth it though, especially for indie film makers.

I am putting together a horror/thriller/romance kind of film. I believe I have an amazing script. Currently I am just saving for equipment.

That's really awesome man. That camera looks sick. And costs more than a car with all the add ons.

If you ever get it going you gotta send me a finished trailer, or clips. I find all that stuff interesting.
