best digital camera for your $$$$$$$$$$$$
    #2758009 - 06/02/04 08:53 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

lately i've been looking for a new camera.i've been to ebay, walmart, best buy i've seen whats available.i have done some research on digital camera also and from what i've learned you can't just base a good camera on the highest resolution.i've read that some camera's over compress the image causing lower quality.theres some other thing involved like the lense and color contour shit but i'm not a camera expert so.

i'm sure many of you have digital camera's i'd like your reviews with the brand name and model o ya lets not forgot the price.i really don't mind paying alot of money for a quality camera i just have to know it's good.i would love to be able to test one out before buying it but i don't think you can do that at any store or at ebay(ebay scares me alittle you never know what your getting from them people.

i need something that will take very detailed close up shoots.

thank you for your input

I've been using my DSC-F717 for over a year now with no problems and superb pictures.

when i got my camera, i checked out Image-Resource.com
http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/C40/C40A.HTM
that's the link to my camera, the olympus c-4000.
they have lots of sample pics and quality reviews...

Very good camera, has lots of options i havent even got to yet, DAMN good macro shots, and even better, the Super macro shots, for those supreme closeups.. that's why i got mine, for taking close ups of glass. Pretty easy to use as well, i've used a nikon cool pix that was the same mpx, and the controls on the coolpix were all whack, like where the zoom on mine is, they have the on/off switch. i just really like my camera...

oh, and BEST THING about the olypmus, is that you can download software to control the camera from your computer, so i can set up my camera say, outside (with a long enough usb cable) and press the mouse inside, and get a shot... the software also does time lapse too. it's so awesome... you do need the ac adaptor to do that though. unless your doing a short one.

also, it doesnt require any software on the computer... which is awesome. just plug it into the usb, turn the camera on, and it acts as a removeable drive... my uncle has a hp that requires the software, and it almost never works... he's got the docking station and everything... but it's lame.

I sold a ton of cameras in my time, all digital. I was once an advocate of the A70, but that Canon let me down. Not so great. The Olympus are "alright" but I think Minolta is hands-down the winner. The Dimage Xi is quite a camera in a small package but I like the f300 even more. They just have the whole "color imaging" thing down like no other manufacturer. Easy to use and always surprising you with its intuitiveness.

Well, this is my first post. Cheers, everyone.
