Composted horse manure/peat mixed with straw?

Hey.. My buddy is trying to use rubbermaid containers to house a bulk substrate based on straw. He just went to the store and bought "composted manure," however, he noticed when he got home that it has Peat mixed into it... Is it okay to still mix the composted horse manure with the straw, even though it has peat in it?

yes! It'll work fine. Also add some vermiculite to it.
You may get lucky and the stuff works but it might not colonize being store bought manure. Store bought variety is usually no good.

had a friend who used store bought manure/compost which worked great.

ya a friend of mine used store bought mature and he said it's working good so far,if there's peat in it you should test the PH to see if it's optimal 7.0-8.0 is what you want. you can add lime to the mix if you need to.

Does your friend mix their manure with straw always? Can you grow on purely horse dung/vermiculite/peat?
