My entire spanish class....

....was in Spanish! Jesus Christ is this normal. I feel like ive been violated mentally or something. Not 1 word of english...not 1! :facepalm:

Immersion is the best way to learn. In my last years of studying French I wasn't allowed to speak a word of English in class.

That is how many of my Spanish classes were in high school. I wish I would have completely learned Spanish. I'm sure I'll go back and learn at some point.

College languages suck.  Do yourself a favor and just Torrent rossetta stone and learn from that.

Mis profesora en la universidad solo hablaba ingles durante los ultimos minutos de clase. She was really expressive, though. Even when I'd forget words, I'd understand.

I took 4 years in high school (with 5 different teachers) and took a single summer class one year after high school ended. I've lost a lot of my Spanish. I can't wait for class to start up again. I'm taking another Spanish course and starting Chinese. It's exciting. I love other languages. I'm studying Korean on my own as well. It's really easy, much much easier than Spanish.

Muchas gracias. I want to help North Koreans reach safety in South Korea or the US. When they sneak out of the North, they can be killed if they're caught crossing. If they're caught by police in China, they can be sent back to North Korea where they're often thrown into concentration camps and sometimes even killed. They're starving to death, especially in the border region. They're faced with the decision between starving to death and dying at home or risking their life crossing to China.

Work in Northeastern China can be dangerous as there are North Korean agents who harass workers in China and have even killed a couple in Russia. The Chinese government also takes a very harsh stance and will throw people helping the North Koreans into a labor camp where they're forced to work 18 hours a day (the sentences are usually only a couple of years.) A lot of people are nervous to work there, so I figure I might as well go for it.

Here are some of the conditions in North Korea:

You are a perfect case study of the professors intentions actualized. What I mean is the professor's goal when speaking only in the foreign language is to give you that 'thrown into the deep end' feeling. It stresses you out and makes you almost panic a bit. This jolts your brain into functioning on the level of 'I need to learn this and I need to do it fast' kinda survival mode that accelerates your leaning substantially.

Although stressful, learning another language is very rewarding on many different levels IMO. So stick with it and don't hesitate to get with your peers or teachers if you need help keeping up.

I'm jealous of those people living around here who learned Spanish and English at the same time very early and don't even remember learning both languages cuz they are bi-racial living in usa
