See, I get the sense that you're actually being mostly facetious when you say things like this because it's part of the Pris character but you have a lot of blind followers who really buy into this black and white idea that all liberals are horrible, worthless, unintelligent scumbags and that conservatism is the way, the truth and the light; none shall come to heaven except through hoarding money and making others suffer for the situation they were born into, etc and when you post these things your little conservative crusaders grow in strength which results in an attack on me or complete discountenance of my entire post every time I share my own opinion. :shake:

If the government would stop guaranteeing the loans, the credit would be less available, and the colleges would stop hiking tuition every year.

The colleges know that regardless of what the charge, the student can get the credit, that is the root of the problem.

Who are you to say that $50,000 of that money was spent on partying? You don't know the cost of living where said person was, transportation expenses, books, rent, food, or even the price of tuition including possible credits outside of the regular semester? Also there are plenty of people with worthwhile, non liberal arts degrees, that have trouble finding employment and not all employers consider LA degrees to be useless either. .

i see logic behind why calofirnia, an historically D state is loosing some many of its biggest corporations to texas, an historically R state. thinking simple biz on a macro scale. make it easier and cheaper to operate and them will come.

a necessary step in our social and economical evolution...
do you know why most of the people out of school can't find work?  it is because our economic structure is going through a change.  we are conditioned to think that everybody needs to have a paying job to be a productive human being.  NOT THE CASE
increased technology means less human jobs are necessary.

80+% of students in college are hoping to receive a degree that will get them, at most, a temporary job.  people just need to grow up and accept the fact that we need to learn skills, something that is real, and not hyper focus on all of the pieces of paper.

yes the bubble is about the burst and people will need to learn to survive without paper wealth and paper knowledge

Reduce "help" until it's better for people to get off their asses as opposed to anxiously awaiting this months handout.

How is pointing out what you're overlooking not something of substance? I'm not getting a liberal arts education, by the way. At any given point in my undergrad education my classes are/have been 75-90% hard sciences.

Seriously man. Tell me your plan to fix the US economy. I'd love to know what policies you would change, what cuts you would do, what revenues you would raise, etc.

Its been a while since we talked economy. We kinda got lost in that gun crap. Lets get back to the important things.

If you were aksed to provide a solution, summoned by congress. Whaat would you tell them?

Oh fun. Another financial problem.

I blame this on the fact that kids with diplomas can only get minimum salary jobs if they get lucky.

Just fucking get your PhD, declare bankruptc, start work a super high paying job, waitfor  that 7 year period to end and then just buy a huge house cash, then borrow what you need to buy income properties and become a multimillionaire.

The banks have been fucking people over, time to fuck over the banks. Every man for himslef

you cant file bankruptcy on a student loan in the US, under certain
circumstances the debt can be forgiven but a student loan stays on
your credit forever. thanks to identity theft I have a student loan
on my credit for the last 25 years

I kinda knew that...

I was half trolling... One half knew it wouldn't work, the other half wished it would work.

Seems like there's nothing you can do anymore. Other than starting your own business of course, if you're one of the lucky people with these genes in you.

Oh mighty Pris. When will this financial crisis ever end  :wtfsonic:

We have structural problems in the economy, which means we will never return to the economic prosperity of past years. So much work has been shipped overseas, those jobs are never coming back, and work continues to be shipped.

High energy prices are also here to stay, the return of energy investment is very low, cheap energy is essential for economic growth, cheap energy is no longer here.

Want to know my solution?  I'm sure no one does because I'm a bleeding heart liberal but I'll share anyways: slash work time in half. This will ensure everyone is employed and will prepare our economy for the exponentially increasing amount of automation we're already seeing that eliminates some of the need for a labor force. In their new found free time, Americans can focus more on scientific, academic and creative pursuits thus bettering our populous overall, and hopefully generating some more critical thinkers, rather than having everyone constantly slaving away most days of the year at poorly paying jobs that don't contribute anything very meaningful and most people hate anyway. :yesnod:

I'd love to see heavy cuts to nonessential services like federal pensions,
endowments and grants for so many corporations under the guise of arts or
science or what ever silly excuse they use to piss away federal funds. to
raise taxes when the the rest of the nation is having to live on a tighter
budget is certainly not going to fix things, cuts to the budget need to be
made, very serious and deep cuts and they should start with everything that
requires 3x as much money to operate as it pays out each year

I' tell them to get fucked and leave their office, that it's time to give up
the position to people that arent as stupid as they are to believe all this
bad policy is doing some good when it's frequently just there to pad their
own pockets

COmpanies have been slashing work times in half. The result was an increase of part time jobs with no benefits. Only the corporation benefited from this. Which means, the people rich enough to be shareholders.

Too bad for the poor people, yet again
