If you want to get technical, "rime" actually is an established way of spelling the word "rhyme". It's uncommon to see that spelling today (in English anyway), but it's not really "wrong."

Try to rhyme perfect, but in the end it sounds lame
I always tried to work it, spitting straight off my brain
But fumbled with my wording, well past my gold days
The marijuana helped me, but not with any daily tasks
Creativity a plenty, plus I got plenty of ass

umm I'm pretty sure when they say rime, they are referring to ice that builds up on the side
of the boat from the fog. Can you show any other examples of it being spelled like that?

You may be right about that particular poem, but that spelling definitely has been used to mean "rhyme" in English in the past. In French I think it's the standard spelling.
