Such a nice and nuanced way of thinking. And so eloquently expressed, as well.

there is argument over differences or the lack their of, i personally find psychopath to relate more to psychosis even more so in general discussion wear as sociopath is more accurate in this situation due to the nature of the study, ie how people are put aside for their personal gain.

voodoo for sure, how does that make you feel ? :penis:

It's part of the job.

In any type of leadership position, tough choices have to be made.  People need to be fired and cuts need to be made.  Life isn't sunshine and rainbows, and when it hits the fan, someone has to step up and make a decision.

I'd be curious if there were any actual data on the subject though.

Being able to make difficult decisions doesn't make a person a sociopath.

I've heard all sorts of statistics thrown around, but it all matters how you frame the situation.  Everyone's definition will be different.

To me, people that think all we need to further ourselves as a species is larger and larger individual stockpiles of value are sick in the head.  I get that under the current system you can't operate without placing alot of consideration on finances (unless of course you are "too big to fail" :cookiemonster:) but other things should come into consideration as well.

I think there is real danger to society in conditioning these so-called leaders to think that the more resources someone controls, the more they are worth to society.

No one is saying it does. But it seems them more so than other types of people would okay working a job where such decisions would need to be made. Not saying they all of course. This whole thread is merely speculation after all.

Its pathetic that we live in a world whee money affects people like poetry. But again such a thing is instinctual; money represents security and prosperity in our society, and since the dawn of everything, security and increasing the odds of replicating your own dna has been the driving factor of all life.

well everyone involved in the hsbc bullshit terrorist scandal are all lunatics. not one person is spending a day of jail/prison time and is instead paying something like $2 billion which i heard they make in a little over a week. great example to set for the population when you show money rules all; we already know this but nothing like a constant reminder/fuck you from those "in charge"

Lo, its always been that way though. Get a large enough group together and someone is bound to be willing to exploit everyone in the group for selfish personal gain.

I agree with you.  However, I don't think any special "conditioning" is needed.  I think its our biological nature to procure resources to survive and procreate.  It's what we, and all other animals are hardwired to do.

based on years of coke rants with intelligent ppl, i came up with this. the world went to shit because of two reasons, switching from hunter/gatherer to farming, and the idea that gold has value. the rest plays out from there and we call it "history"

I think when humans live as unified communities they did alot better at using social pressure to regulate behavior.  What was good for the whole was at the forefront of everyone's mind.  In todays large and very divided communities social pressure is abused by those in power in persuit of more power and material posessions.

If we could somehow start viewing ourselves as one global community I think people would be better able to encourage people that want to chip in but don't have the means, as well as regulate the behavior of those that do things which are destructive to the whole.
