The website is government funded, run by the ONDCP.
Anyways, aren't they misrepresenting or something with some of the things they do?
If you go on the website, there is a "true stories" section.

I hope that whoever reads this learns that turning to drugs to escape any problem is not the answer. I beg you to realize that DXM can be just as bad any other drug, it’s not a “safe” drug at all. It completely toke over my life and I don’t want you to end up facing what I went thorugh.

Honestly, it sounds as if most of these stories are written by a single person, as they all share a very similar writing style. None of them have run on sentences and they are all broken down so they are very easy to understand, but then they will have a few minor grammatical errors such as you're/your to make it seem more believable.


I gotta wrap this up as I'm a fairly bad/slow writer and I need to pick up a pizza (the kind with tomato sauce and cheese).
I'll try to edit up the rest of this later.

They are right.  You should not let anyone pressure you to do things in order to fit in.  Anyone who will not let you be yourself is obviously a negative influence.  For a long time I felt constant pressure to give up drugs, consume alcohol, and just start thinking and acting like everybody else.  But then I realized that this is my life, that I won't be happy if I give in to peer pressure and spend my life trying to fit in.

They may call me names.  They may try to bully me.  But I know that have to be me and follow my heart.  That's right people, I am above the influence.

See, that's exactly the kind of stuff they say in order to pressure people into doing what they want.  But we know that they are liars and bullies.  So we be ourselves and follow our own paths.  We are "Above The Influence".

Shit I love it actually.  I want a tee shirt that says "Above the Influence".  No matter how big and bad and cool you think you are, we think for ourselves, we make our own decisions.  Hell yea!

So if this website is run by the government, and the government is supposedly involved in getting drugs into the US. Wouldn't this be counter-intuitive?

I see it as a measure of them having to say "drugs are bad" to protect themselves from what might really be going on with the ONDCP.
