monotub hole size?

hi all, i know this has probably been anserwed hundreds of times, but wat is recomended size for monotub holes?

cant find it on a search?

my tub is 16 inches high by 20 x12 ok .....

and is the bin bag on the bottom needed? for wat reason>

is it just to stop side pinning, or is it to protect substate form water dripping into it from sides of the tub?

and is micropore cool for the holes or does polyfil llet MORE air through? :mushroom2: :mushroom2:

also are u all doin 2 holes per side in the montubs, or 4 holes as in half the double tub tek, thanks just dont wanna mess up my nice tub :smile:

Micropore has worked for me, Polyfill has worked for me and having NO HOLE COVER has worked for me. Only problem with not covering the holes is that the casing layer directly around the hole dried out.

When you make your tub drill a hole in the very bottom corner of it that you can stick a cork into or some other type of plug (feeling like getting fancy? you can silicon on a the top of a plastic bottle and lid.). That way you can just fill the tub up with water to dunk your substrate after flushes and then EASILY drain off the water.

And I've been using like up to 16 3/4" holes top and bottom around my tub....maybe I went a little overboard, but it works.

I usually just follow the DT pic torial and just assume if I have a 10 gal mono tub then it would be 2 5 gal.

But hey that is just me :smile:
