Using Polyfill Lids
    #599770 - 04/05/02 03:17 PM (22 years, 16 days ago)

Just a few questions regarding the use of these:

1. A FOAF doesn't like to leave the jar lid loose during PCing, will the existence of the polyfill filter be enough to let the pressure in the jars out?

2. When innoculating rye\birdseed, would one need to punch an innoculating hole or could one merely innoculate through the filter?

All help is greatly appreciated.

1. Yep
2. I read a Tek using polyfill, and it said to push the needle through the same hole as the polyfill. Just make sure you go between the lid and the polyfill (push it aside) rather than going straight through the middle of the poly.

if you inject with the poly and dont make another lid one common sense thing should be added... this is from a friend of a friends personal exp. he felt like a dumbass for doing but anyways it might help you, if you flame sterilze the needle make sure you squirt some spore solution out to cool it down or you will melt the polyfill all over the needle!!!
