Tyvec hole size?????

What size hole should be in the lid when using tyvec for grain jars??
Im using the house wrap tyvec.

1/4 inch to 3/8ths.... is what this old boy uses. Opinions may vary.

I just stab them with a phillips head screwdriver..



I dont know the exact size..those are widemouth quart lids though, not 1/2 pints or regular mouth (besides the ones with no holes, for casing mix jars).

Have you had any problems with it not allowing enough air?
I tried to blow through a tyvec lid with a 3/8 hole and its almost impossible to breath through it.
The polyfill holes ae much easier.
Have you tried the housewrap tyvec or do you use a thinner tyvec or is air exchange not that important or what?

Housewrap will work. Tyvek envelopes also work. It will allow enough air exchange.
