Am I using the right kind of Tyvek?(need answers QUICK!)

Hello I have some Tyvek envelopes that I used for filter disks. The envelopes look like normal paper but with more fibers and a little bit shiny. I seriously can't understand how and air circulation can get through this? I put it up to my mouth and blew and barely any air got through. Can someone reassure me that I'm doing the right thing? Also there is a layer of tinfoil screwed on under the lid and a layer of tyvek over the lid but under the screw on part of the lid. Will this allow enough air circulation? Thanks.

Of course not! Dump that foil out!

Ok, thanks for the tip Anno. As far as the jar lid goes, there are 4 tiny nail holes covered with a tyvek filter disk. Will the Tyvek actually allow any practical air exchange through these small holes? Or will it be sufficient? ALSO,
should I lift the tyvek and inject through holes, or inject through tyvek? I was thinking that I probably wouldnt want holes of any size in the filter disk.
I need help ASAP, thanks.

grain jars: tyvek or polyfill, good PF tek substrate with dry vermiculite layer: tyvek not needed at all.

yes I'm using grains so, 1) Will the small nail holes covered with tyvek provide sufficient air exchange? 2) Should I inoculate through Tyvek, or lift it and inject through just the lid? My thoughts were that even a needle sized hole in the tyvek would lead to contams. thanks a bunch

>1) Will the small nail holes covered with tyvek provide sufficient air exchange?
I usually use 2 pencil sized holes.
>2) Should I inoculate through Tyvek, or lift it and inject through just the lid? I lift the lid, but I use a hepa flow hood.
Let me show you what I use:

This is masking tape, btw, it will withstand the pressure cooker.
You can make a small extra hole and cover it with tape, just for inoculation.
inoculation with 1 N, btw....

so anno for someone that is doing this for the first time would you just suggest using tinfoil.. and leaving it on? Or what else would you suggest I do, keeping it quite basic

For grain jars? If possible, use some kind of a filter lid, although I have relatively successfully used also only aluminum foil on top.
