Looks like a huge Scleroderma, cut it in half and see what colour is it inside.

Maybe a calvatia. Sclerodermas don't get to grow that big, do they?

I don't think so, I've never seen any even close to that size. But maybe some species do, I really have no idea.
Calvatia with weird skin texture is much more likely.

It was white inside when fresh.  As they age they turn black and kind of shrivel.  They produce a mighty fine explosion when jumped on, which my family always used to do as kids.  Completely ignoring the billions of spores scattered in the air!

They all have that same skin, they are very common around Here.  And several grow that big.

Very nice! I don't know the exact species, but they are most likely edible, and good, when young.

My girls parents said they were edible when young.  Kind of taste like marshmallows.
Here is a pic of it after my girl kicked it hoping for an explosion!
