I'd say boards of canada, but aphex twin is pretty sick. Neither are my style anymore, but if you wanna get high and listen to something awesome, get In The Court Of The Crimson King, by King Crimson.

i am not even looking at my screen, i have to turn my damn head to behind me where my TV is cause that's the only thing i can use as my computer monitor, as my ACTUAL monitor is broken.

it's annoying, and i usually have the ability to read and edit my posts befoer i put them in... not at this time, thuogh, so... so spelling nazi's can... ya know... F' the F' right off. :flipthebird:

Right now I have enough to download Twoism by BoC because it is only like $4 and that would still leave me with a little cash to spend on a few other songs (but not enough for another whole album)

I also have almost exactly enough to buy Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works V.II which I've heard is awesome. I'm familiar with V.I and I really enjoyed it.

Decisions, decisions.

Help me out ambient fans.


I would go with AFX. It's anyone's guess as to which is better, but BoC has kind of a narrow mood range and you're already strapped-in with plenty.

I personally didn't care for that Ambient Works II, actually I found it interminably boring. It actually is closer to BoC in its feel, but it's got very little to tether the attention or the imagination. It also couldn't have less in common with Ambient Works I. It's extremely spacey and if you're anything like me, pretty intolerable. You should get Richard D. James Album or I Care Because You Do.

I haven't listened to either in quite a while, but I also found Aphex to have more range in style and mood.

i walked down the aisle to chamber music pieces from drukqs transcribed for string quartet in my wedding. i deleted the recordings after the divorce but it was awesome.

yeah i was gonna say if you're gonna got aphex just get druqks and be done with it.  everything was leading up to that album, and all the stuff that came after didn't compare.

or just listen to like free music thats 1 day old which is my preferred musical route.

Richard D James has some awesome music.

But I typically listen to Boards of Canada.
It is just such smooth music that it almost always agrees with my state of mind.

I get a hungering for some Aphex on rare occasions.

I really like his analog bubble bath series.
And Selected Ambient Works.


My favorite BoC albums are Campfire Headphase, Music has the Right to Children, and Geogaddi.
