Boards of Canada or Aphex Twin?

Just joined a music downloading site and I got a $20 signing bonus. I just downloaded:
Boards of Canada
-The Campfire Headphase
-Trans Canada Highway
-Music Has the right to children

Global Communication
-76:14


Right now I have enough to download Twoism by BoC because it is only like $4 and that would still leave me with a little cash to spend on a few other songs (but not enough for another whole album)

I also have almost exactly enough to buy Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works V.II which I've heard is awesome. I'm familiar with V.I and I really enjoyed it.

Decisions, decisions.

Help me out ambient fans.

Aphex has SO many different names he goes under like caustic window,Polygon Window, Power-Pill, GAK, APX and the list goes on. Each has their own unique style and flow so I would definitely say Richard James.

Global Communication's - 76-14 is an AMZING album. i remember tripping fuck and then afterwards going to sleep with tht album in the background... nfor awhile i'd always put that album on before going to sleep.


it's just awesome. if you haven't yet, check out Reload's Short Stories album. it's the same dudes as Global Communication.

BTW you're decision is btween a classic and mildy smaller indie classic.

i'd go with Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works 2... just because it was my first electronic album, ever. so i'm biased.

I'd say boards of canada, but aphex twin is pretty sick. Neither are my style anymore, but if you wanna get high and listen to something awesome, get In The Court Of The Crimson King, by King Crimson.

Alright, so it looks like selected ambient works V. II is the new addition.

I've been listening to BoC all day so I think I'm ready to expand the palette a little. Thanks for all the recommendations. I'm kind of new to ambient but I can't get enough of it. It soothes my mind in ways that other music can't.

I'm truly shocked at how many of you like that selected ambient work 2 album....
I've listened to a lot of aphex twin lately and this has to be the only album he made that I'm not ever going to re-listen to.
selected ambient 85-92 was cool...
SAW2 is more like atmospheric sounds than music to me :shrug:
