Ooooh, when your so forceful it makes me all warm and tingly inside.

Watch the video at :40 and tell all those unarmed men pleading for their lives to the "rebels" how insane it is to want terrorists dead. Well you can't because they were all executed in cold blood by Syrian "civilians". There are many, many other videos and first hand accounts of these so called rebels killing unarmed civilians.
http://news.yahoo.com/video/prisoner-shot-dead-syrian-rebels-151814189.html

Funny thing is when we catch those that are attempting to kill us and make them wear dog collars naked at ABU Ghraib, the whole Mideast goes mad, calling for our destruction. When Muslims execute others esp. westerners in cold blood or decapitate them on television what do you hear? Not a single condemnation from any arabs. Were the so called moderates in the streets protesting the killing of innocent non Muslims? Did our so called arab allies condemn this behavior? Hell no. Their silence speaks volumes. Its ok it they behead, torture, or use others for target practice, but god forbid you pour water on their heads...now that's abuse!!!

can you prove that?

Assad claims he only targeted armed rebels and that the rebels were responsible for civilian deaths.

The videos that have come out seem to prove tht the rebels are the ones killing civilians.

Did anyone watch the recent interview with Assad?

Quote:
In an exclusive interview with RT, Syrian President Bashar Assad said that Syria is not going through a civil war, but rather a different kind of war - terrorism through proxies

PS

John,

Al Qaeda isn't real either. It is made up and operated by the CIA to this day. This name is nothing but a sick joke, originally a CIA database name of CIA trained jihadi fighters against the Soviet Union. In colloquial Arabic "Ana raicha Al Qaeda" means "I'm gonna go take a shit." A very common and widespread use of the word “Al-Qaeda” in different Arab countries in the public language is for the toilet bowl. This name comes from the Arabic verb “Qa´ada” which mean “to sit”, pertinently, on the “Toilet Bowl”. In most Arabs homes there are two kinds of toilets: “Al-Qaeda” also called the "Hamam Franji" or foreign toilet, and "Hamam Arabi" or “Arab toilet” which is a hole in the ground. Lest we forget it, the potty used by small children is called "Ma Qa´adia" or "Little Qaeda". That's how dumb and blatant US media can be about it because what they tell you and repeat enough becomes the truth. They can take a word like toilet and pretend it's a sophisticated terrorist group and 99% of people believe it as the gospel truth.

Thank you for the link dump.

Could you indicate percisely where in those sources, all cited in their entirity and with no specificity, I am to find the support for your claim?  I see a lot of negative evidence for your positive conclusion, and something doesn't seem quite right about that.

wow

Again, I'll have to trouble you for some support for this.  Is this another one of those "US gave money and weapons to some Afghan Mujahadeen who also served in al qaeda, therefore the US made al qaeda?" arguments?

Because after years of hearing this nonsense, that's all I've ever heard in support.  By that logic the US isn't real and is made an operated by France because france helped the people who created the US.  This is at best a compositional fallacy.

Whatever videos you're talking about only, perhaps, prove that some rebels killed some civilians.  They don't speak for any other of the 10s of thousands of killings that have occurred in the past year and a half.  The ratio of killings on video to total killings is minuscule.  The only real evidence is testimony of other Syrian civilians, international observers, and neighboring governments.

If Assad can't even stop himself from killing Turkish civilians in Turkey, why do you believe he isn't doing the same to his own civilians?

Wait, you mean you doubt Assad's thugs release video of their butchering?  Are you suggesting they might not let the populace film them killing people while the bands of rebels might not have the same PR and security apparatuses?

Niether do I- so what?

I know you well enough to know you can't agree with these guys- you do know a fair amount about the US's dubious foreign policy past, enough to know this charge of creating Al Qaeda as a fictitious front for the CIA is absurd.

To be honest, your post seems kind of silly.  I wasn't challenging what you posted- its changing the subject.  If somebody wants to argue that the US has supported thugs and done great evil, especially during the cold war, I'll lead the charge- but they just blow this argument to tinfoil land when they start making up bullshit like happened some posts back.  I'm quite sure its counterproductive to acknolwedging and correcting US foreign policy mistakes to start blabbering about fantasies while well-documented abuses are unaddressed.

No, i'm mostly agreeing with you (and certainly not agreeing with those who would absolve Assad of the murder that he has sanctioned). That being said, looking back at Libya the regime of Qaddafi (corrupt, repressive, and when faced with revolt, murderous) was villified beyond what actually happened. Western media were eager to publicize falsehoods such as Viagra-fueled rape, randomly shooting at civilians from the air, and legions of black mercenaries. That latter in particular, combined with existing racism, led to massacres and ethnic cleansing against blacks most of whom were either migrant workers or permanent residents, but not pro-Qaddafi fighters.

Well, Libya sucked, but I agree it was better than a lot of regimes in the area in later years when it wasn't overtly killing people in foreign lands (to my knowledge) and was at least trying to do things for some of the people.  Then again, they continued to support the genocide/mass killing by the regime in Sudan and opposed even token opposition by the African Union and the UN.  Its kinda hard to claim your some champion of the people when your busy shilling for those that are murdering them.  Libya did seem to get more than their fair share of condemnation, but they were also uniquely newsworthy with Qaddafi's terrorist acts and the bizzare manner in which he ran his regime.  When the dictator runs the government like a soap opera, complete with virgin attack girls in funny suits, your going to get more attention than just the banal thuggery that typifies many of the totalitarian states in that regime.

Quote:
When images emerge of civilians deliberately massacred (not simply killed by relatively random firing) i don't think anyone should rush to judgment on who are the perpetrators and act based on that, bc al-Qaeda oriented groups are inside Syria. I admit, though, i have not looked deep enough as to whether or not the guilty parties in such killings have been identified beyond reasonable doubt. If the evidence says it was the side of the Assad regime, it wouldn't surprise me, but nor would it be surprisingly if it was Islamic extremists. There probably have been some of both.

I'm sure some non-Islamist rebels have killed people unjustly, including civilians- things like that happen.  I do think its more likely that those events will be documented due to the rebels taking some pride in their fight and Assad keenly aware of his image outside Syrian.  I doubt Assad let reporters or even soldiers take pics of their dirty work.  The regime is incompotent in many respects, but they never stop shopping for support from deluded fools outside their own borders, like George Galloway.
