Quite the talent eh?? I obviously play bass, I can play guitar (very badly) and used to play trombone and tenor sax.

Heavy metal bass for me...been doing some tracking lately and it's coming up really badly, any tips for doing bass tracking to tighten up the sound?? hahaha

Love me some bass. I've been playing for 7 years now. Other instruments make sense to me, but none as much as bass. What styles do you like to play?

I'm mostly a metal player, although I do branch out into a bit of blues and funk stuff on occasion. Used to play in a stoner rock band that was very heavily influenced by blues.

I hear ya when you say it makes sense as an instrument, I was drawn to it because of my trombone background. I love the fact that as an instrument it is under-appreciated by pretty much anyone who isn't a musician. Trombone is rarely heard by uneducated ears in an orchestral arrangement but is still vital.

OK, Lamb Of God's album 'Sacrament', that whole album is incredible. Machine Head's album 'The Blackening'. One of the best of all time IMO

Devildriver - End of the Line
Devildriver - Clouds over California

Love Iron Maiden and Mudvayne, two amazing bassists right there.

Protest the Hero has very good metal bass lines. The album Fortress got me from playing punk and, dare I say, emo music back in my teenage years into playing complex metal bass lines and enjoying heavier stuff.

StoryTeller, just checked out Protest the Hero and they're pretty cool, bassist is pretty sick.
Also, Alex Webster. That guy is a beast on bass!!

just picked it up towards the end of august. I'm loving it so far, it's very easy to translate my ideas through it.

At first I was learning a bit of metal and funk, lots of experimental rock sort of stuff too. Didn't really stick to one genre.

At the moment I'm learning jazz and that takes up more or less all my practise time. I'm okay with that though because it's heaps of fun and has helped me improve quite a lot.

So how long have you been playing bass man? (sorry if you already talked about this)

Ahahah yeah I have been playing for 8 years now. Not quite where I want to be with the instrument as I am self taught and have had breaks from the instrument because of work etc.

I play mostly metal and used to play alot of funk bass in my metal bands. Since then I have toned it down a little and just get down and dirty with fat bass tone lol
