is it doctor shopping if you don't get prescribed anything

Like if im going to a bunch of different doctors trying to find one that will prescribe opiates but i dont have multiple scripts.

Yes and no.


It's not as explicitly illegal as holding multiple Rx for the same drug--but it should be obvious to you that you are shopping around.

Check your local/state laws.

It's really fucked here; if there's reasonable suspicion, there's a "three strikes" kinda thing within a certain period of time.

If you pay cash at different pharmacies and don't run insurance you can fill whatever you want.

Be aware though that most pharmacies are linked and if you get flagged they will alert other pharmacies. My childhood friend ended up becoming head pharmacist at a CVS/Walgreens type place and confirmed a lot of my earlier suspicions.

Some people get caught up because they forget easy things like Vicodin and Norco both having hydrocodone in them, or Roxicet/Perocet/Percodan having oxycodone.

I consider it to be doctor shopping if you are ATTEMPTING to get drugs from different doctors, whether or not you actually end up getting a script (or scripts).
