Once on DMT I was in front of seven spirits who each symbolized lessons I was learning in this life. Behind them at one point materialized what some call the "highest self", the higher dimensional counterpart of Me. Basically a very good looking, magical, powerful, love filled me with a big smile on his/my face materialized out of the ether behind these spirit beings, and behind him was a white pathway that lead literally off into eternity, into the white light void. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and I hope that description does justice. That is one of the experiences that makes me believe in past and future lives, basically the metaphor was that once I allow myself to move through all the things the spirits symbolized, lust was one, aloofness/fear/anxiety was another, I would be on the pathway to eternity with the part of myself that is eternal, that creates my physical life, my highest self.

If you still don't understand the idea of a highest self, its the idea that there is a counterpart to this physical self that exists in the higher dimensional realm beyond birth and death. This being chooses to create incarnations in the physical realms in order to explore the possibilities of infinity and eternity, and is in union with both him and herself and thus has much power and much capacity to love, infinite capacity to love.
