Pro's and Con's of two possible career paths, time is windling down to make a decision.
    #16793906 -

stressful decision.

alright so to cut to the chase, in this life, I want to become either a Police Officer, Or, a Physical Therapist.

Police Officer Pro's
-Get to help people out up
-paid to protect, sounds rather rewarding
-different ranks/different jobs I can advance to like s.w.a.t/detective work

Police officer Con's
-can die
-can go from very boring to very intense quickly.
-having to put people away for drugs and there own person decisions aren't fun:mad:
but if its a scumbag who will lace a bullet into any person i have no problem putting the drugdealer away.
-Not in demand (as of what i know)
-Most likely not at all as cool as any movie (because your not getting fucked when watching LOL)

Physical therapist Pro's
-Get to help people back on there feet
-pretty much One on One care
-Very rewarding

Physical Therapist Con's
-No ranking up

basically i can choose from a cool sounding life (cop) to a rewarding sounding life (physical therapist) both can also be cool and rewarding but this is how I view them both currently.

im having a hard time putting becoming a Police Officer in front of becoming a physical therapist, but its hard sometimes to shake child-hood dreams, and im in a stand-off because of this.

Physical therapy, hands down. You get to help people, you're moving around most of the day, it's a career in demand, you'll make a lot more money, etc.........

I say physical therapist. Why? Because you're helping people regain their lives instead of ruining it like cops do.

Even if you disagree with the drug policies out there, as a cop you have to do what you're told. Screw that.

Yeah its a tough decision, I have some people im goingto let down, but i can't have a job if i have such a inner conflict with people getting taken away for drugs.

also i agree, physical therapy is something im goingto look more into for sure, im more excited at this career choice to be honest,

if you have problems with authority being a police officer will be short lived for you.  also i wanted to be a police officer and during the interview i was up front about my drug use, i went through a few more interviews and they checked my references and shit and they were still okay with me.  i'm in canada though so it might depend on where you live.

i'd go physiotherapist tbh.  eventually you can "rank up" to the point that you can set your own hours, even run your own business if you'd like, there are also different branches of physiotherapy so you can keep improving yourself and expanding your repertoire, make a lot of money doing it.  best of all, you won't have to chastise people for their decisions unless it's actually stupid (ie. a grandpa trying to do a dragon kick and ends up seeing you), you just help them get better.  too many shades to being a cop, it has a nice sheen to it but there's a ton of crap you'd have to deal with, and aside from the power trips you can have i don't think it's worth it.  you're essentially a douchebag in a uniform.

The problem with being a cop isn't just that you might get in a situation where you have to arrest someone over drugs.

Cops are the violent enforcers of the state (besides the military) and maintain the status quo. Beyond drug policy this means oppressing poor people, protecting capitalist private property, racial discrimination, I could go on. I'm not saying that you would have the intention of doing these things but this is what the police do, directly or indirectly.

If you wanna be a part of that and take on all that bad karma then good for you. Just remember its a war out there and you are a slave soldier on the wrong side.
