Lost Lokean
    #16760285 -

Yes, I am Pagan. My deity is Loki. No, I didn't choose him. He showed up in my life about six years ago and has been crashing on my couch ever since.

I have some serious problems when it comes to all of this, not Loki exactly. Maybe I should explain some things a bit more.

I'm not an asshole Lokeans that I hear so much about. You know, one of those who thinks it's okay to be a jerk and do horrible things for the sake of doing them.
No, not me. I find Loki to be the Trickster, but for a reason. The one who looks at the order of things, laughs and cuts himself a doorway out of it all.
As far as him being the "Norse Satan"? Well, I don't believe that. To look only at his dark side will be ignoring the good he did.

Okay, enough of that, here's my issue.

I have a lot of friends who are also Pagan and they have all of these rituals and a set path. Me? I got nothin'.

I find anything too New Age to be repulsive. Nothing against anyone who believes in that, but it seems like it ignores the shadow self and I like my shadow.

I was considering learning more of the structured rituals of the Left-Hand Paths out there, but they seem to rub me wrong, too.

Everything in between never works right either. I've tried asking my god for guidance (something that he's actually surprisingly good at) but all I get is "Do what feels right". :awenuhuh:

I know that this was long and rambled a lot, but I could use some insight here. Going Eclectic and just mixing up what I want seems like a cop-out, but maybe I'm over thinking it?

(If I offended anyone, I don't mean to. I really don't.)

I follow the left hand path as well, my friend. Wish i knew more about paganism though...I'm going to go look into more of it. Good luck with your strange loki.

Why do you need a set path anyways? You have the power to change everything in it. You are selecting your path with every move you make. Why take a trail when you can blaze your own route?

King Klick, I think I'm seriously leaning towards the Left Hand.
Nothing else makes much sense in my line of thinking.

Pagan is really just a blanket term. I use it to keep it simple.

I think I've read somewhere about Theistic Satanism, that Loki is accepted as a deity. Did that make sense?

I know nothing of devil worshiping. I suppose, i will have to research it now as well. No need for me to have a god, there aint. Wait...loki is the god of...fire god and/or chaos bringer...Maybe that's for the pagans, i'm not sure.

The whole body should always be nice and fluid.

See, that's where it gets a bit tricksy. Technically, Loki isn't a god. At least that's what some people argue. There's no historical record of him ever being worshiped.
I would say that he's a god by proxy because he mixed blood with Odin and was his blood-brother.

But, both a creature of fire and a chaos bringer would be correct, I believe.

I don't think many Satanists now believe in Satan as...well, Satan. I know I don't exactly believe in that concept or even that there's a guy out there who makes all the bad stuff and is always there to trip us up.

No modern satanists worship satan. They're atheistic. Those that do worship the devil worship him because he is a good person, in most cases. If they are not one of those 2 then they are teenagers playing in a graveyard. Wouldn't that make loki a demi-god? Can we just meet in the middle like that?

I can meet you in the middle with that. The whole thing does my head in, honestly!

I really don't feel like taking a god (or whatever) on a talk show for a deity test.

There is nothing wrong in to Going Eclectic!

Could I suggest you, to look some lokean blog, and web site, and to select what you feel right? You can also e-mail to their authors, and you could find help from who follow your same Loki.

I'm not a Lokean, but  I read sometimes, and I find interesting, these three:

my best wishes

I have the first link bookmarked, but I had no idea about the other two. Thanks a bunch!

I think I really need to get over my Eclectic-issues. I'm severely anal when it comes to getting things just right which I really need to break myself out of.

The Norse Gods died to me, after suffering the dead world for too long I flipped and went to church, now the Gods have returned, and the world just keeps getting more and more alive. Focus on too narrow an interest and enthusiasm flees.

Thomas Moore wrote somewhere that there cannot be an individual without an community and there cannot be an community without a gathering of individuals. Timothy Leary spoke of how wonderful institutions are, the purpose of institutions is to question and transcend the institution.

I too reject the notion of mythical devils or that backward western view of evil. Jotun's are as much an aspect of my psych as the Asir. Alan Watts spoke of the Joker character in a way that reminded me of Loki,of Zen Buddhism and magic, enlightenment obtained effortlessly through some kind of trick. I become a Catholic and my world becomes pantheistic and pagan again, this is a Lokean gift that life has presented.

One of my personalities has Gnostic Christian Germanic Heathen faith, its easier just to say I'm Catholic. The whole idea of being pagan is to give honor to each and every aspect of psych. After dwelling in the realm of the dead for a bit, find a way out, make offerings to other entities.
