musicians vs. actors & judgment
    #16640344 -

I saw some bullshit about how the bitch in Twilight cheated on her man on google news and it makes me wonder... why does society hold actors to such higher standards than musicians?  Actors must be pure of soul, but musicians, you can do whatever.  Is this because people kind of realize that musicians produce the best shit by living crazy, whirlwind lives?  I also find it interesting that the faker musicians like Miley Cyrus are put to the actor standard; the public must realize she's a sham musician.  :ilold:

There are definitely different standards. Everyone knows the musicians are always getting laid back stage and doing drugs but it doesn't matter because all of that can influence their song writing. Just like with the Beatles, everyone knows that LSD did nothing but make their music WAY better.

The standard doesn't translate well with actors. They are reading from scripts, not writing lyrics/music and a lot of the time actors/actresses are dating or married to someone (not saying that all musicians don't get married or date) just that it's more common for them to be single and living the rock n roll lifestyle.

Can't the same thing be said about athletes as well? Tiger Woods for instance, had he been a musician or even just in  another sport like football his cheating probably wouldn't had been such a huge deal but since golf is seen as more of a sport for gentlemen, he lost most of his sponsors and was torn apart by the media. Yet most men in his position would do the same exact thing.

I think actors can be highly creative.  Take jack nicholson.  He didn't get famous because he's attractive.

Any good actor will bring something unique to the role they play, Jack Nicholson is a great example. But with musicians they are creating everything they are playing and singing. And drugs and sex can help the creative flow.
