Auto-SummaryThis forum post discusses a controversial book linked by user gushtunkinflupped, which presents an alternative theory of neural evolution and our relationship with plants. The author, Tony Wright, suggests that our ancestors consumed a diet rich in fruits, which contained over 10,000 different chemicals acting as transcription factors and modifying endocrine glands. This prolonged the juvenile period, allowing for increased brain development. The post argues that the standard model of evolution overlooks the impact of altered DNA reading mechanisms passed down through generations. It highlights how the loss of fruit-based biochemistry upon leaving the rainforest led to a shift in neural structures and hormonal balances, contributing to modern developmental issues. The author invites readers to access the free .pdf of the book and experiment with its suggested techniques, claiming that the evidence is substantial and self-evident upon reading.

Hemispheres said: it was in the first book i posted earlier...there's plenty of science in it! i saw an interview where somebody asked the author, what he suggests humans should eat? Tony replied that's not what i do.... the man wont even discuss diet at all in that sense!
I'm not paying to support someone's lavish lifestyle that feeds on people's gullibility, link us to the research, not to what some guy claims in his book
if you read the book you NOT be asking these questions over and over. the book is online for free and was linked earlier when i quoted this users earlier posts:

Dennis McKenna, who is in all likely hood the originator of the stoned-ape theory (everyone admits he fueled terences ideas for decades..which is obvious if you read true hallucinations), has written a great forward to a book that presents an absolutely fucking ASTONISHING new theory of neural evolution and our past symbiotic relationship with plants. It is utterly mind blowing and is going to hit mainstream awareness eventually.
Its in a sense an updated version of the stoned ape theory. It doesn't go into mushrooms although i suspect they played a role. If not, then they definitely came into play later once the symbiosis was lost as another restoration technique (if that doesn't make sense just read the forward/website)
Here's a free .pdf of the entire book, and links to the authors website: http://leftinthedark.org.uk/sites/default/files/Left%20in%20the%20Dark%20free%20edition.pdf

The standard model of evolution only focuses on mutations in the DNA that occassionally allow a species some new beneficial trait which helps then survive better in the environment.
Our endocrine system is an extremely complex network that produces hormones involved in reading the DNA through a process called transcription. DNA is merely the blue print. If you introduce an entirely different reading mechanism (transcription chemicals) then what is built will change because the DNA is being read differently.
In the past when we lived in the rainforest we ate a lot of fruit. We think of this as just another mundane food but fruit has the most complex biochemistry out of any other plant on earth, and we were consuming large amounts of it and many different species at once. Some of these fruits have over 10,000 different chemicals in one piece... all of which are transcription factors involved in reading the DNA or directly modifying our endocrine glands (like the pineal) which pump more of these chemicals that read the DNA. Fruit is also loaded with MAOI, things that stimulate neural activity, the pineal gland, melatonin production, the immune system, etc etc.
Basically our nervous system and brain (which is the most complex and chemically sensitive thing in the known universe) was being flooded with the most complex biochemistry on the planet for millions of years. This chemistry drastically alters how the DNA is read, and how the brain and endocrine system are built. Along with the activity of things like testosterone, inhibiting its affect which prolongs the juvenile period and thus the time for brain development. Longer juvenile periods = more brain development. Any wonder puberty is occurring at an increasingly alarming early age?
The mechanism is simple but has many interconnected factors. The fact that is crucial though is that these chemicals were flooding the womb at the most critical stage of neural development. They were altering how the feutus developed which would have lifelong affects, and regulate how the pineal/endocrine system developed as well. So each generation would have a progressively modified developmental environment.
After millions of years of ever more entangled symbiosis we were forced out of the jungles either by drying of the forests or other cataclysms. We began living on a survival diet that met our energy requirements but could not maintain the neural structures and traits that had developed via the symbiosis. We started reverting back to the more primitive regime of chemicals/brain structure, and one hemisphere of the brain degenerated more quickly because it has a greater sensitivity to the very steroids the pineal/fruit chemicals were inhibiting for millions of years.
This loss of biochemistry was compounded by chemicals in meat and other foods that have the exact opposite affect of the complex fruit biochemistry on our nervous system. The increase our amounts of the very steroids that were being inhibited for millions of years.
It sounds complex but at its basis its very simple engineering principles: if you change the fuel and building materials of a technology (in this case the unimaginably sensitive and complex human brain), then the overall functioning of that technology will change. This is true for any of our technologies but for some reason we haven't applied this logic to the most important and complex one: us.
This is just a brief overview but the evidence for this scenario is vast and branches into many many areas. Just read the book and experiment with techniques it hints at and it WILL become self-evident.
