my cousin got hit by a car

So yesterday morning my cousin got hit by a car. She was on a bicycle and she went over the car. The fucker just drove off, leaving her in the gutter with a concussion. Luckily her friends were there and they called an ambulance. She's ok, no broken bones, just lots of bruises and I'm sure a shaken sense of humanity.

Tonight I went over to my best friend's house and told them the story, my friend expressed how awful it was and how she couldn't imagine anyone being so thoughtless. Then her boyfriend (previously my friend too) said how he would do exactly the same. He said the words "I'd fucking just drive away, fuck them" he said he wouldn't even call an ambulance. "If it was their life or mine, I'd choose me." This is the same boyfriend who about a year ago got my best friend into a catastrophic accident where she almost died, because his drunk ass hit a goddamn pole. She fell forward into the dashboard and broke her nose and had a concussion. Thank god someone called an ambulance for them or she would be dead. He got off without a scratch but I remember him saying that he didn't give a damn about himself he only cared about her.

During our argument/discussion. I told him that what he was saying he would do was evil, he responded "yeah well I'm evil" I said "that would be someone's daughter, (I pointed at my friend) someone's girlfriend!" After that my boyfriend (Sui) and I walked to the liquor store to process what we had just heard, I couldn't believe I was associating with someone like that, like the person who left my cousin for dead. When we got back I grabbed my keys and bluntly said. "Sean what you said was rude and inappropriate. My cousin just got hit by a car and could have died. We don't associate with people who don't respect other people's lives.

I feel good about it. I usually am a very anti-conflict type of person but I couldn't have looked my cousin in the eyes tomorrow if I had let that slide. I'm done with phony fucking people.

It's good you stood up for yourself like that. The fact that he could say things like that in the first place pretty much shows he's a total sociopath or just wants to look "cool". What does your friend think about this?

that applies when it's a fight between 2 people, not when you run someone down

I was very surprised my friend didn't say anything about it. She's a very passive person and has pretty low self esteem, she doesn't stand up for herself very much, but if my boyfriend would have said anything like that I would have called him on it or dumped his disrespectful ass right then and there. Especially after she was in a similar situation and almost died. Part of my realizes as well that these are not the kind of people who I would want to be with in a bad situation, they're the kind of people who would just bounce and leave you for dead...or the police.

While not carrying the same position as your acquaintance, our views do share some similarities.  Obviously, if no one is around then I stop to help the victim, but if they made a poor choice in crossing the street with their friends present, I might have to drive off.  It could mean jail time for me, settlement money or other repercussions that could potentially ruin my life all because of someone else's error.  If the accident was my fault, out of negligence, I would stop no matter who was present, but being completely honest, under the right circumstances, I drive...

Please save your judgments, I only intend to display complete honesty...

That being said, your "friend" is an asshole for a complete disregard for human life...

Hope your cousin is ok.

first time i ever got hit by a car it was when i was 15 i was riding my bike in crosswalk like a idiot and the arrow was still yellow and i got hit, hit the windshield hit left ribs on right side mirror got my foot ran over and broken. i had a ounce of weed on me and a nurse that stopped because she saw the accident took my backpack full of weed. then 2 seconds later a cop came and made me walk my bike across the street. broken foot and all. sorry for the stupid story glad your cousins alright!

I used to jog and cycle everywhere in my teens, averaged about 20 miles per
day on the bike. I've been hit several times and about half the time people
stop, I'm sure one or two were trying to hit me. I cant count the number of
bottles I've had nail me.

state law here is that you stop and render aid even if you weren't part of
the accident and I always have simply because it's what I believe to be right
and anyone with so little regard  for life as to not stop to check on someone
they;ve hit deserves the same prison time a murderer would get

yeah the chick that hit me stopped. but i believe anyone with some kind of medical license or something of that sort has to stop if they see it. and i was retarded and rushing to get to a party so i was riding my bike in the crosswalk which is automatically my fault. no matter what but, if i would have been walking my bike and got hit it would have been her fault.

I was bikin to work the other day and I saw 2 people get hit by cars on bikes within 30 minutes.. 'tis the season I guess.

Not anywhere I know of unless they have a duty to act (on duty emt) most medical types would stop and help out though
