49" philips, think the caps are bad
    #16465919 -

Hey guys, don't stumble over to tech very often, but I was wondering if you could help me out.

I have a 49" philips ambilight that's blinking red 6 times, then a rapid 3 blinks.

I'm pretty sure it's three capacitors that most people have problems with, but I was wondering rather than order them and wait for shipping, can I replace them with capacitors from another set?

I'll order if necc. but I'd rather recycle.

Any help is much appreciated.

Caps are cheap, just but them if they are bad. Take a look inside the TV and look for blown capacitors

So many electronic items are throw aways when they break, I bet you paid a decent amount for that TV otherwise I would be tossing it and buying a new one that isn't a Phillips. About a year and a half ago I bought a cheaper Sanyo flat screen from Walmart, what a waste of money that was, damn picture gets fuzzy and messes up kinda like old school Nintendo graphical glitches. The Sanyo was/is a throw away.

I know that I can order them, it's just something rewarding finding an old tv, taking it apart, and fixing something myself, yaknow.

At least that way I can say I've done it, and have experience in it.

What kind of capacitor is it? If it's your typical electrolyte capacitor it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement. You can find various capacitors in any electronics, would just have to dig around until you found one with the same capacitance and equal or higher voltage rating.

What Kizzle said. Tear open some junk electronics and look for a similar looking capacitor. Voltage needs to be at least what you are replacing with higher voltage being okay. As far as capacitance, usually uF rating, try to get as close as possible with slightly larger being preferable. Also don't forget to match the negative polarity band with the markings on the board.
