Capacitors

For electrolytic capacitors, is there a standard where one lead is positive and the other negative (one is shorter than the other)? Also, on the PCB, would the positive go into the square hole or the round?

I don't think there is a +/- on a capacitor. Well, not the ones I am used to :wink:

Yes, electrolytic capacitors do have a polarity and the lead length is a tell. I dont remember which lead is which, but there should be a line, or a line with an arrow, or a neg. sign on pointing down one lead. That is the lead that should be more negative.

The longest lead is generally the positive lead.
