So student loans are staying at 3.4% instead of 6.8%? for how long?

just finally got wind of it:

what it says is that the interest rate will remain at 3.4% for this school year, but that there will be no 6 month grace period, though for only loans taken out for this year.

happy with that:thumbup:

but it wasn't clear on how long the 3.4% interest rate would last though.. is it just for this year, or for the next 2 years??

Good.  I'm pissed off with mine.  6.8% is fucking RIDICULOUS.  Plus the government lops like 5% off the top for some ridiculous convenience charge.  Fuck that.  :minigun:

Yeah that was about to be way too much for me as well...

Anyone else have student loans and can say whether or not the 3.4% will remain the same for the next 2 years??

crap! just called financial aid and found out that it is only for subsidized loans that the interest rate will stay at 3.4%. For unsubsidized loans the interest rate will double to 6.8%... :suicide:

I have yet to start paying back my 31k of dept for a degree i never received. So far the problem has stayed buried but i know il have to deal with it eventually.

It's fucking ridiculous.  We spend trillions on dumb fucking wars and then shoulder our poor grad students, who in theory, are the innovators in this country, with fucking absurd interest rates.  And the rich ass congressmen don't give a fuck because they are all rich.  Fuck them.

Many grad students dont need loans.  If they are truly innovators then they get paid to do research for grad work.  Its the humanities students who dont produce during grad school that need the loans.

America is such a phony bitch. Needs to just admit it already and officially become the global center for all things war. With globalization on a rapid rise, countries should just embrace whatever they are best at. Europe has the Hadron collider, China makes all the cheap shit the world needs. America will focus on making all the bombs and guns and soldiers. Everyone is happy.
