Anyhow, he mentions something about how dreaming is essentially a DMT trip. I already knew that we had DMT in our brains or whatnot, but I was unaware it was the cause of dreams.
This left me to ponder something. Within the past year, starting shortly after surgery (I'm blaming the medication I received as the trigger for this), I've been tripping as I'm falling asleep. And I mean tripping.
It doesn't happen every night, more like 2 nights every 3 weeks to a month. Sometimes it's just one night, but it's common to be 2 nights in a row. I usually can tell when it's going to happen, because as I start to nod off and almost fall asleep, I can feel it coming on, panic, and wake myself up. Then I'm prepared for it and can actually fall into it, but no matter how prepared I am I'm always still in complete confusion once this trip begins. The only thing that doesn't keep me from panicking is that I tell myself I'm on some sort of drug, I guess thats instinct now for panicky and confused situations. I'm also sure it happens right upon falling asleep, as I'm usually in some lost thought when it comes on, usually I have a enough time to think "Here we go!" before I'm blasted into confusion, but thats about it.
What does the trip consist of? Well it's a mixture of a few things. Normal dreaming of coarse. The trip usually starts as a normal dream, that I'm watching from above in the third person. Then onto the second thing it consists of, which is sleep paralysis. From the very start of the dream, I'm very seperated, and still in a concious state. After about 5 seconds of dreaming I realize I'm dreaming, but of coarse cannot move due to sleep paralysis. This is where things start to get really weird.
I've always gotten sleep paralysis, but never with these other strange things with it. Anyhow, then the noises start. Really high pitched noises along with really low pitch screams, loud yelling, the sound of grinding metal. And then I leave my body.
Sometimes I go up, sometimes (usually) I go down, and on rare occasion, I'll go to the side. I'm sure many people here have had out of body experiences before, being a psychedelics forum and all, so you know what it's like. Sometimes I try to fight this feeling, I guess it depends on my mindset before sleep, but sometimes this terrifies me, and sometimes I'm perfectly accepting of it. Either way, it's intense.
This is where the most intense part of the trip begins. I'll start to get CEV's, exactly like those of a good shroom trip, and finally full out images (I'm guessing this is a half-dream state?). Then I usually dream of myself waking up and struggle to move or do something for a while, in a completely delerious state, saying "I smoked too much weed" over and over in my head untill of coarse I completely snap out of it all together and actually wake up.
Now, I know what your thinking, just some crazy dreams right? Well I'm sure I would have thought the same thing, but there's something that really weirds me out. Upon awakinging back to FULL conciousness (in no way shape or form dreaming) I feel buzzed for about 10 seconds. I guess it sort of feels like an alcohol buzz, warm and dizzy. After these 10 seconds I'm completely normal, but if these are just dreams then how could I possibly still be "feeling it" upon waking up?
So I know I've asked what could be causing this before, but upon hearing this audio clip, could it somehow be DMT tripping me out like this. Maybe my brain releases a large amount, and then it needs to regenerate a while before releasing it again? I know that sounds like weird, but it's the most logical explination I can think of. Could some post-surgery medication or antibiotic cause a DMT overload?
I'm not complaining about these trips, I really enjoy them other than the terrifying sounds, but it just worries me that I'm having them, and I'd like to know the cause. I have a good feeling that if I go to a doctor it will be blamed on drug use, but I'd like to add that when this all started, I had only smoked weed and I was an every-other-weekend toker. I'd also like to add that I've never been on drugs when this has happened, I've always been sober. One possible exception to this was one afternoon I crashed after being up for about 48 hours (stupid E) and it occured, I
This reminds me that my balls itch and should be scratched, lol im joking :P what I really mean is we do have some chemical thats also a drug that I faintly remember is DMT but I dont think we experience the DMT "trip", I wish I had some dreams before I woke up all I remember is "nothing" then "something" like an on n off switch, thats how I slept last night.. very depressing and unnatural.
