water intoxication
    #16493131 -

has anyone ever had this problem..?

i usually drink massive amounts of water. maybe too much i think

anyway, it's been extremely hot where i live lately, like 95-100 farenheit and very humid.

aside from that, i hardly ever drink anything aside from water, maybe some tea but mostly just tons and tons of water. for some reason i haven't been drinking much juice lately at all. so basically what happened is i started getting these headaches lately. i had one yesterday and then i got another one today that was EXTREMELY painful. i seriously wanted to die at one point, that's how painful it was. i also felt very nauseas and threw up twice. after the first time i threw up i drank a few bottles of water so i wouldn't get dehydrated but then i threw up again. then i talked to a doctor i know and he told me it might be from all the water

the symptoms i had were a horrible migraine and stiff neck. he told me to just drink coke and then some v8 vegetable juice after awhile. so that's what i've done. the other thing i noticed is that i've been very tired lately.. for no real apparent reason

anyways, this honestly scared the shit out of me. i think i drink water compulsively. and..... i don't even know what else to say, but i was just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences? what a close call, i seriously thought i was dehydrated and i just kept drinking MORE WATER... shit is kinda scary. and i feel out of it now

Huh wow, I have no knowledge on this subject. The only time ive heard of this was that hold your wee to win a wi radio contest. Some woman died trying to win her kid a game console. The contest rules were to drink as much water as possible without urinating.

Honestly though i think you'd have to be downing it and holding it in sooo

Drink all the water you want just tickle dawg

The problem with too much water is lack of electrolytes.  Mix in some electrolytes, salts and stuff and you should be good. Sodium

A can of coke contains 35mg of sodium.  About a third of what a cup of gatorade has.  More sodium than water but not necessarily enough to make up for lost sodium through sweating.

yeah i definitely would not be drinking coke or v8; but definitely get the salts and minerals in your body, and you can drink all the water you want. I drink a lot of water too, its probably 95% of my fluid intake per day, the only exceptions being milk and green tea. if I do drink a lot of water its usually with a meal, because i understand the necessity of electrolyte balance, and now so do you

I eat high sodium meals a lot, so I tend to drink a lot of water and green tea (mmmm green tea, and not the sugared shit, gotta be just tea leaves and water, no sweetener).

Your sweat contains mostly water of course, but also contains levels of sodium, minerals, trace minerals, urea and lactate, so if you're a heavy exerciser you should probably take a multivitamin that also contains high levels of minerals and trace minerals as well, and keep in mind your sodium content as well.
