If those gills are attached they are wine caps.

KOH is only needed to distinguish between different types of Agaricus.

Albino forms of Stropharia rugosoannulata are apparently not uncommon (see Phillips, 1991/2005). The collection above was made in woodchips, in Illinois. Aside from the white colors, other differences from the typical form included a strong creosote-like odor and a yellow (rather than olive) KOH reaction. Microscopic features were identical to those of the typical pigmented form.

just saying thats what im going by wheres your facts?

http://www.mushroomexpert.com/stropharia_rugosoannulata.html

its totally the right species for sure lol but in this case you can tell the difference in the strain as a result of that it also has a variation in taste really sun burned or aged regular wine caps totally dont taste as good or smell like the albino strain. i first started picking the albino strain cause they are really common possibly more common in the north east. i just have all the experience of picking them for 4 years now but it would be cool to have the KOH so i can clear things up with ppl like who want to say thats not albino strain who cant smell and taste them

my real question is if there is more then just albino strain and the common dark red ones, its possible cause variation  in strain and a common part of species

heres some guy trying to explain how that works

http://www.khanacademy.org/science/biology/v/variation-in-a-species

basically i dont have a PHD so i cant really explain what someone with one did to me

thats really cool! those are way whiter than the sunbleached ones i find!! those are truely white eh ? and they have that trade mark flower shaped partial veil when still a button , definetly wine caps for sure.

but you say they taste better then the regular ones, even though they have a creosote like odor? that seems odd.
