Looks like a corn snake to me. If not, it's probably some strain of rat snake.

agreed... more likely corn snake factoring in the colors/markings and the shape of the head. they will leave a nasty bite but are not poisonous.

Hey I just clicked on the pic and saw the closeup and it really does seem like a coppermouth rattle head snake ! I don't know that much bout snakes, but that identification sounds about right. I thought Ripple was kidding...

it is a corn snake. there is such a thing as a cotton mouth which is also known as a copperhead and there are rattle snakes. no such animal as the humorous word raping offered by ripple.

Well I just did a little research on local snakes. And supposedly there are only 2 venomous snakes in this area. Copperheads and timber rattlesnakes. Copperheads have an hour glass pattern on there back and after a close look of the tail from the pics it's not a rattler not either. One possibility is a water snake but I have yet to find a good picture to compair it to. Also this snake is about 3 1/2 feet long

by the head marking this is most likely a milk snake it is not poisonous but aggresive and does bite
it could also be a northern water snake this one is also aggresive and will bite bites bleed freely due to and anticoagulant in its saliva
