Will these work for my next attempt?

I just found these mushrooms growing in the field. Do you think that they would be good to make a print for my next grow attempt?





The cap on the left numbered 1 wasnt in the first 2 pix. The cap hadnt broken fully from the stem. I hope that that one will have the most clean print since it wasnt exposed to the air for long.



My past 2 efforts to grow have failed due to contamination. I believe that the prints that I took before were too old and were contaminated. These are the freshest that I could find. If they turn out to be contaminated then I will have to buy a syringe and try that way.

hi there niteowl  :smile: too-whit too-whoo etc etc...

is this your first grow attempt? if so, i'd definitely recommend a sterile spore syringe from a friend or vendor. a clean indoor print would be next best, but then you'd have to make the syringe yourself, and it's just another potential hurdle.

outdoor prints are the worst of the lot. they are almost guaranteed to contain various other spores / bugs as well as the spores you want, and only experience with agar and excellent sterile technique will isolate the good stuff, in time.

first time, syringe/PF is the way to go.

Thanks shirley. This will be my 3rd attempt to grow. Each attempt has been from wild shrooms, and each attempt has been contaminated. I may just skip tryiong with these wild shrooms and go with Ralphsters Spores. I have never ordered spores before. Is there any special instructions I need to know about placing the order. Do I just send him a letter with the cash and the name of the strain of shrooms that I want and my address? He then will mail it to my house?

damn man! should have waited...I have heard that outdoor shrooms are actually cleaner than indoor....you should have tried a jar or 2.....aw well ralphster DOES have VERY good products

I got a good print out of some of them before I ate them. I may try one or 2 of the prints just to see if it works.

I heard that when you deal with wild prints, you should let the spores drop for one hour or so before moving it to your printing tinfoil. The heaviest spores are most likely to be contaminated (That is why they're so heavy). Let the spores drop for a while then move to your printing foil.

Just an old tek that I wanted to bring back.

I wonder if, in the last eight years, anyone has a different opinion about contaminated spores dropping first.
