Re: The smell of contams

When my jars got contaminated, they started to smell through the taped jar holes. The smell was "rotten apple/smelly feet" smell. No visible contams though. Likely due to bacteria as opposed to mold. A couple contamed jars also got sticky looking inside, with some pale yellow water droplets. Once contamed, the mycelium completely stopped growing.

Some advice. After you ditch the bad batch, pressure cook the shit out of the clean jars and lids. Just cleaning them with detergent will not kill all the bad stuff in the jars.

BTW... all your jars MAY not be contaminated. Let them sit for a couple more weeks. Maybe they're still good, or maybe only a few jars have gone bad.
